A light control film is a light control member having controllable transmissivity and includes: an undivided first common electrode; divided first electrodes; a first liquid-crystal layer disposed between the first common electrode and the first electrodes; an undivided second common electrode; divided second electrodes; and a second liquid-crystal layer disposed between the second common electrode and the second electrodes. First non-electrode lines dividing the first electrodes and second non-electrode lines dividing the second electrodes are arranged at positions not overlapping one another when viewed in the direction normal to the light control film.

Provided is a laminate which can not only control the amount of external light transmitted, but can also be used as a mirror. A laminatecomprises: a first liquid crystal member; a reflection type polarizing member; and a second liquid crystal member. The first liquid crystal member has first liquid crystal cells with changing orientation states, and a first absorption type polarizing member. The first liquid crystal cells can be switched: between a mode where one type of polarized light of the incident light is blocked and the other type of polarized light is transmitted, and a mode where one type of polarized light of the incident light is blocked and the other type of polarized light is shifted and then transmitted; between a mode where the incident light is transmitted as-is, and a mode where one type of the polarized light is blocked and the other type of polarized light is transmitted; and between a mode where one type of polarized light of the incident light is blocked and the other type of polarized light is transmitted, and a mode where one type of polarized light of the incident light is transmitted and the other type of polarized light is blocked. The reflection type polarizing member receives the light transmitted by the first liquid crystal member, transmits one type of polarized light of the incident light, and reflects the other type of polarized light. The second liquid crystal member has second liquid crystal cells with changing orientation states, and a second absorption type polarizing member. When the reflection type polarizing member has transmitted polarized light, the second liquid crystal cells can be switched between a mode where the polarized light is blocked and a mode where the polarized light is transmitted.

The reliability of a spacer is improved in comparison to conventional ones. A light control film which is obtained by sandwiching a liquid crystal layer between first and second laminates that are provided with at least alignment layers and which controls light transmitted therethrough by controlling the alignment of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer by driving electrodes that are provided on the first and second laminates. With respect to the first laminate, a base that is formed of a transparent film material is provided with a spacer that maintains the thickness of the liquid crystal layer. With respect to the first and second laminates, the Vickers hardness of the spacer is from 16.9 to 40.2 inclusive, and the Vickers hardness of a part of the second laminate, the part being in contact with the front end of the spacer, is from 11.8 to 35.9 inclusive.

A light control film and a light control system, which not only simply change the amount of transmitted light but also can be used for a wider range of applications. This light control film includes a first electrode, a second electrode, a liquid crystal material, and a dichroic dye, and has a guest-host type liquid crystal layer in which light transmittance varies with the potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the liquid crystal layer has a first haze value when the potential difference is a first potential difference, has a second haze value when the potential difference is a second potential difference, and has a third haze value higher than at least the second haze value when the potential difference is a third potential difference between the first potential difference and the second potential difference.
