A power device driving apparatus drives a plurality of power devices including first and second power devices. In the apparatus, a plurality of drive circuits are separately provided for at least the first power device and the second power device and output drive signals to the respective power devices. The isolated power supply includes a first isolated power supply unit that supplies a first supply voltage, and a second isolated power supply unit that supplies a second supply voltage that is different from the first supply voltage. The plurality of drive circuits includes a first drive circuit that uses the first supply voltage supplied from the first isolated power supply unit to output the drive signal to the first power device, and a second drive circuit that uses the second supply voltage supplied from the second isolated power supply unit to output the drive signal to the second power device.

Power device driving apparatus

A driver circuit works to drive a first switch and a second switch connected in parallel to each other. The driver circuit includes first and second charge switches and first and second diodes to turn on only one(s) of the first and second switches selected as an on-target(s). The driver circuit includes first and second individual discharging paths connected to gates of the first and second switches, first and second discharge resistors, a shared discharge path, and a shared discharge resistor. This structure is capable of reducing a switching loss.

Driver circuit for switch

A drive circuit drives switches that are connected to each other in parallel. The drive circuit includes individual discharge paths, a common discharge path, blocking units, a discharge switch, off-holding switches, and a drive control unit. The drive control unit selects, as target switches to be driven to be turned on, at least two switches among the switches. The at least two switches include a first switch and a second switch. The first switch is last to be switched to an off-state among the at least two switches that are selected as the target switches and switched to an on-state. The second switch is other than the first switch among the at least two switches. The off-holding switches includes a first off-holding switch and a second off-holding switch. After switching the second off-holding switch to an on-state, the drive control unit switches the discharge switch to an on-state.

Drive circuit for switch

A switching circuit includes a printed circuit board that supports a switching element, a positive power supply circuit, a negative power supply circuit and a driving circuit thereon. The positive power supply circuit generates a positive voltage relative to a GND potential. The negative power supply circuit generates a negative voltage relative to the GND potential. The driving circuit supplies the gate electrode with the positive voltage and the negative voltage when turn on and off the switching element, respectively. The printed circuit board includes wiring as a conducting path extended from the negative power supply circuit to the gate electrode via the driving circuit. The conducting path includes a negative power supply wiring between the negative power supply circuit and the driving circuit. The negative power supply wiring at least partially includes a negative power supply solid pattern.

Switching circuit and method of manufacturing switching circuit

In a drive apparatus, a transmission unit mounted to a first region stops transmission of a pulse signal from a physical-quantity transmission terminal. The transmission unit transmits, from the failure information transmission terminal, a first signal indicative of an occurrence of the failure associated with the target switch when it is determined that the failure associated with the target switch has occurred, and transmits, from the physical-quantity transmission terminal, a second signal indicative of a content of the failure associated with the target switch. A controller mounted to a second region electrically isolated from the first region detects, based on the pulse signal from the physical-quantity transmission terminal, the physical quantity upon no input of the first signal to the controller. The controller identifies, based on the second signal transmitted from the physical-quantity transmission terminal, the content of the failure upon the first signal being input to the controller.

Drive apparatus for switch

In a drive circuit, a rate adjuster adjusts a charging speed of a MOSFET to be faster than the charging speed of an IGBT when a drive state changer changes the first switching element from the off state to the on state first, and changes the second switching element from the off state to the on state next. The rate adjuster also adjusts a discharging speed of the MOSFET to be faster than the discharging speed of the IGBT when the drive state changer changes the MOSFET from the on state to the off state first, and changes the IGBT from the on state to the off state next.

Driving circuit for switching element and power conversion system

A switching circuit may be provided with: a parallel circuit including a first IGBT and a second IGBT connected in parallel; a controller configured to receive a signal indicating a turn-on timing and a turn-off timing. The controller is configured to: turn on both of the first and second IGBTs at the turn-on timing, execute a first control in which one of the first and second IGBTs is turned off before the turn-off timing and the other of the first and second IGBTs is turned off at the turn-off timing in a case where current flowing through the parallel circuit is equal to or lower than a threshold value, and execute a second control in which both of the first and second IGBTs are turned off at the turn-off timing in a case where the current flowing through the parallel circuit is higher than the threshold value.

A first drive circuit Da includes a temperature information transmission unit that transmits a binary output signal changing between High and Low and an abnormality information transmission unit that transmits an output signal fixed to Low, and a second drive circuit Db includes the abnormality information transmission unit. A temperature information signal and an abnormality information signal from the first drive circuit Da are subjected to OR operation on the side nearer the first drive circuit Da than to a magnetic coupler Ma so the abnormality information signal takes precedence when the abnormality information signal represents an abnormality, or on the side nearer a control unit than to the insulation elements Da and Db so the output signal from the insulation element Db takes precedence when the abnormality information signal from the second drive circuit Da represents an abnormality, and then the logical sum is output to the control unit.

Control system for power conversion apparatus

A signal transmission circuit transmitting abnormality signals from a primary side circuit to a secondary side circuit is provided, in which the primary side circuit includes switching elements driven by drive circuits, the secondary circuit including a receiving unit receiving the abnormality signals transmitted from the primary side circuit. The signal transmission circuit includes: a plurality of isolation elements that electrically isolate the primary side circuit and the secondary side circuit, and allows the abnormality signals to be transmitted therethrough; and a logic circuit that receives the abnormality signals from the isolation elements, outputting a predetermined signal indicating an occurrence of an abnormality when at least one of the switching elements shows the abnormality. The isolation elements transmit the abnormality signals relative to a predetermined reference voltage in the secondary side circuit and the predetermined signal outputted by the logic circuit is received by the receiving unit.

Signal transmission circuit provided with logic circuit

In a signal transmission circuit including a drive circuit and a control apparatus which are insulated from each other and between which a signal indicative of predetermined information is transmitted via a magnetic coupler, the drive circuit includes a temperature information transmission unit transmitting a first signal indicative of temperature information based on the number of pulses consecutively output with a predetermined period and each having a first waveform with a duty cycle of less than 100% with respect to the period and an abnormality information transmission unit transmitting a second signal indicative of abnormality information based on a pulse having a longer wavelength than the first waveform. The temperature information transmission unit transmits the first signal to the control apparatus and the abnormality information transmission unit transmits the second signal to the control apparatus, via the magnetic coupler common to two information transmission units.

Signal transmission circuit

In a control device, a load determiner determines whether a power converter is in a high-load state or a low-load state. A high-load controller controls on-off operations of the first rectifiers such that on durations of the first rectifiers are respectively synchronized with each other when it is determined that the power converter is in the high-load state. A low-load controller controls on-off operations of the first rectifiers to reduce the on durations of the first rectifies synchronized with each other when it is determined that the power converter is in the low-load state.

Control device for power converter

In a driving device, a resistor is provided on a current path connected to an on-off control terminal of a switching element. The current path permits a drive current to flow therethrough to or from the on-off control terminal of the switching element. A switching rate setter sets a switching rate of switching the switching element from one of an on state and an off state to the other thereof. A current adjusting unit includes an open-close control element provided on the current path for electrically opening or closing the current path. The current adjusting unit is configured to adjust, according to the switching rate set by the switching rate setter, the drive current flowing through the current path and the resistor while closing the open-close control element.

Driving device for switching element and power conversion system

In a controller for applying a first drive voltage signal to one of parallel-connected first and second switching elements to perform a predetermined switching operation of one of the first switching element and the second switching element according to change of a first drive voltage in one of the first and second switching elements, a voltage detector detects the first drive voltage of one of the first and second switching elements. A delaying unit delays an application of a second drive voltage signal to the other of the first switching element and the second switching element to perform the predetermined operation of the other of the first switching element and the second switching element according to change of a second drive voltage in the other thereof while the first drive voltage in one of the first and second switching elements is substantially a predetermined Miller voltage.

Controller for power converter having a delaying unit

A power conversion circuit is mounted in a vehicle and controls an output torque of the rotating machine based on a requested command torque. A driving apparatus of a switching element controls a current flowing to the rotating machine. The driving apparatus sets at least one of a turn-on speed and a turn-off speed for the switching element to a plurality of switching speeds that are discretely determined, based on a parameter that is correlated with the output torque and has a controllable value. The driving apparatus turns on or off the switching element at the switching speeds. The switching speeds are allocated to the respective magnitudes of the parameter at uneven intervals, and determined such that the number of allocated switching speeds is greater in a range in which an occurrence frequency of the parameter is high, compared to a range in which the occurrence frequency is low.
