Disclosed is a method of accurately, simply forming a light absorbing layer for improving contrast in a transmission screen including micro glass beads two-dimensionally arranged. A light absorbing layer made from toner is formed on glass beads held in a transparent adhesive layer up to a thickness sufficient to cover the glass beads. The light absorbing layer is irradiated with parallel rays of light in the direction from a transparent substrate, to melt and remove only a portion of the light absorbing layer positioned over a light outgoing portion of each glass bead by the energy of the rays of light converged through the glass bead. By suitably selecting a material of the light absorbing layer, openings can be formed in the light absorbing layer by means of combustion, sublimation or ablation due to the energy of the converged rays of light. Further, a light absorbing layer having each opening positioned only over a light outgoing portion of each glass bead can be formed by making use of a photosensitive material.

Method of manufacturing plano lens

Disclosed is a tandem type surface light source system allowing a uniform luminance over the surface light source. The surface light source system includes a plurality of bar-like light sources disposed in parallel to each other; reflecting members, each of which is disposed to surround a right or left side, an upper side, and a lower side of the corresponding one of the light sources; light guide plates made from a transparent material, each of which is disposed along the left or right side of the corresponding one of the light sources, and is formed into a taper shape in cross-section along the traveling direction of light; and reflecting sheets, each of which is disposed on the back surface of the corresponding one of the light guide plates. In this system, each of at least the second and later ones of the light guide plates is, at its end portion on the light source side, integrated with a light introducing portion made from a transparent material. The light introducing portion extends from the end portion, on the light source side, of the above light guide plate to a position under an end portion of the front side light guide plate adjacent to the above light guide plate.

Surface light source system

A sure and efficient manufacturing method of a translucent type screen using micro glass beadsis probided. A carbon toner is scattered onto micro glass beads which are buried and fixed in a UV curable resin layer, and the carbon toner is uniformly filled in the gaps between the micro glass beads by a rotating brush or a press roll or the like. The supply and filling of the carbon toner may be simultaneously performed by an air jet nozzle. Subsequently, an extra fine fiber cloth, sticky roll or the like is continuously brought into contact with the upper surface of the carbon toner to remove the carbon toner at the light emission portion of the micro glass beads.

Planar type lens manufacturing method

A plano lens according to the present invention includes a transparent base member disposed on a light emission side thereof or light incidence side thereof and a minute-transparent-ball disposing layer having at least minute transparent balls two-dimensionally in a single grain layer on the transparent base member so that the minute transparent balls disposed adjacent to each other should be disposed in contact with or close to each other, and a colored layer disposed so as to expose the minute transparent balls to outside on the light incidence side. The minute-transparent-ball disposing layer has an improved light transmission at a light emission side end portion of the minute transparent ball.

A piano lens according to the present invention includes a transparent base member disposed on a light emission side thereof or light incidence side thereof and a minute-transparent-ball disposing layer having at least minute transparent balls two-dimensionally in a single grain layer on the transparent base member so that the minute transparent balls disposed adjacent to each other should be disposed in contact with or close to each other, and a colored layer disposed so as to expose the minute transparent balls to outside on the light incidence side. The minute-transparent-ball disposing layer has an improved light transmission at a light emission side end portion of the minute transparent ball.
