A packet transfer system includes a transmitter apparatus, a processing apparatus, a first transfer apparatus and a second transfer apparatus. The transmitter apparatus transmits a data packet including data and quality information associated with a transfer rate of the data. The first transfer apparatus performs a transfer process of the data packet received from the transmitter apparatus. The second transfer apparatus is connected to the first transfer apparatus through first and second routes, and transfers a data packet received from the first transfer apparatus. The first route is used for transferring a data packet including first quality information associated with a first transfer rate. The second route is used for transferring a data packet including second quality information associated with a second transfer rate. The second transfer apparatus releases the first route when reception of a data packet including the first quality information has been terminated.

In this method, a first information processing apparatus in a first system identifies a second system that performs a first processing on behalf of the first system when an abnormality occurs in the first system, and transmits a first request that includes data concerning resources used to perform the first processing to a second information processing apparatus in the second system. In an inherited communication management apparatus, a storage unit stores viewing information relating to the content viewing state of a user of a terminal. On a request from the user of the terminal for content viewing, a requesting unit requests another inherited communication management apparatus to examine whether or not the other inherited communication management apparatus stores viewing information including information relating to interruption of the content viewing by the user. A receiving unit receives a result of the examination requested by the requesting unit. When the examination result received by the receiving unit includes the viewing information including information relating to the interruption of the content viewing, a transmitting unit transmits information relating to interrupted content based on the viewing information to the terminal of the user that has requested the content viewing.

Inherited communication management apparatus and method of managing inherited communication

An apparatus for authenticating a request includes a receiving unit, an acquiring unit, a determining unit, and a permitting unit. The receiving unit receives a request for a service-related process from a service user via a communication device. The request contains process request information indicating the contents of the requested process and connection identification information unique to the communication device. The acquiring unit acquires the connection identification information contained in the received request. The determining unit determines whether the connection identification information acquired by the acquiring unit exactly corresponds to connection identification information of a communication device that has established an authorized connection. When the two pieces of the connection identification information are determined to exactly correspond to each other, the permitting unit permits performing a process that corresponds to the process request information, which is contained in the request received by the receiving unit.

The second content provision system determines, in response to a request by a user from a second terminal belonging to a second network, a second content being a same content as a first content, which is provided to the first terminal belonging to a first network or an alternative content for the first content and matching rights of the user. The second content is provided from the second network to the second terminal and can be used by the second terminal. The second content is determined by using content information specifying the first content which is in-use or which the use has interrupted and ownership information indicating the rights of the user and the content provision system acquires the content information and the ownership information from the first content provision system in response to the request from the second terminal.
