In a pump intermittently rotated and controlled by a motor, the motor, etc. rise in temperature and ink supply is unstable when an operation of the pump is stopped in a magnetizing state. Therefore, the invention resides in a pump for a printing machine characterized in that the pump has a base; a cylinder having a suction hole and a discharge hole opened in positions different from each other in phase on the inner circumferential face of a main hole; a plunger fitted to an opening side of the main hole of the cylinder so as to be axially moved and rotated from an end tip of the main hole and closing the suction hole or/and the discharge hole; a motor attached to the base such that a rotating central line of a rotating shaft crosses that of the plunger at a predetermined crossing angle; a transmission mechanism constructed by an arm and a connection member; and retrogression preventing means for arranging the plunger temporarily stopped at a discharging stroke during an operation of the pump intermittently operated by the motor such that the plunger is not retreated and not angularly displaced in a direction reverse to a predetermined operating direction.

A paper web threading apparatus for a rotary printing press comprises a paper web threading member guide provided along a paper web threading path of the printing press extending from a paper web supply section to a position just in front of a folding section; a paper web threading member pooling section provided downstream of the paper web threading path; a paper web threading member which is located over the whole length of the paper web threading path extending from the most upstream position thereof to the paper web threading member pooling section upon commencement of the paper web threading operation and which is run along the paper web threading member guide towards the paper web threading member pooling section during the paper web threading operation; a paper web retaining member provided on the paper web threading member for securing the paper web to the threaded along the path; and at least one paper web threading member driving unit for running the paper web threading member along the paper web threading member guide. Thus, this paper web threading apparatus enables a paper web to be threaded along the paper web threading path smoothly at nearly constant speed without applying uneven tension to the paper web.

A roller for use in lithography which comprises a surface layer of finely and uniformly mixed ultra-hard material and lipophilic material. The ultra-hard material is preferably tungsten carbide-cobalt and the lipophilic material is preferably aluminum bronze casting, the aluminum bronze casting being mixed with the tungsten carbide-cobalt in the ratio of 25-40% by weight.

This mesh roller can be provided with a superior wear resistance against a high pressed scraping motion of a doctor blade and a high ability of ink reservation by preventing a lipophilic metal material from water soiling.

A production process control system for a news printing system using rotary presses comprising a press control subsystem, a sorting and delivery control subsystem, at least any one of a printing plate transportation control subsystem, a newsprint roll storage control subsystem, a mailroom materials supply control supply control subsystem and a truck yard bundle sorting control subsystem, and a production process control system for supervising and controlling each of said control subsystems. The stations provided in the production process control system and the control subsystems are linked with each other via a ring-like data highway network. Each of the stations are equipped with a processor or an intelligent input/output control unit, so that each of the production process control systems and the control subsystems can execute necessary data processing while communicating with each other. The production process control system can supervise and control the processing carried out by each of said other control subsystems.
