A fuel cell module includes a stack including a plurality of fuel cells stacked together, at least one dummy cell in contact with the stack at an end portion of the stack in a stacking direction, a reactant gas supply path configured to supply a reactant gas that is either a fuel gas or an oxidant gas to the fuel cells and the dummy cell, and a reactant gas discharge path in communication with the fuel cells and the dummy cell. The fuel cells and the dummy cell each include a reactant gas flow path configured to cause the reactant gas from the reactant gas supply path to flow toward the reactant gas discharge path. Pressure loss of the reactant gas flow path of the dummy cell is smaller than pressure loss of the reactant gas flow path of the fuel cells.

Fuel cell module

A controller of a fuel cell system detects catalytic layer deterioration and drainage malfunction by the following inspection process. The controller may: execute drainage of water from a fuel cell, and acquire first/second output voltages of the fuel cell when an output current density of the fuel cell is a first reference current density A/A(A&#x3e;A). When the first output voltage is lower than a first threshold voltage and the second output voltage is higher than a second threshold voltage, the controller may output a first determination signal indicating that the catalytic layer is deteriorated and the drainage is executed without malfunction. When the first output voltage is higher than the first threshold voltage and the second output voltage is lower than the second threshold voltage, the controller may output a second determination signal indicating that the catalytic layer is not deteriorated and the drainage is executed with malfunction.

Fuel cell system

There is provided a manufacturing method of a terminal plate including a conductive plate and a terminal that is welded to the conductive plate and that is made of a different material from a material of the conductive plate. This manufacturing method comprises an overlapping process of laying an end portion of the terminal on the conductive plate; a pressing process of pressing part of overlapping surfaces of the conductive plate and the terminal, after the overlapping process; and a welding process of welding at least part of a remaining region excluding the pressed part of the overlapping surfaces, by friction stir welding.

Manufacturing method of terminal plate

A fuel cell includes: a membrane electrode assembly; a porous member arranged on a cathode side of the membrane electrode assembly and having a first surface, a second surface, and an end surface portion, the end surface portion being between an end side portion of the first surface and the second surface; a sealing plate arranged along the end side portion of the first surface; and a separator plate arranged on the second surface. The porous member supplies oxidant gas to the membrane electrode assembly through the first surface, and discharges oxidant off-gas to a discharge portion of the fuel ceil via the end surface portion. The first surface has a first region facing the sealing plate and being between the sealing plate and the second region, the second surface has a second region. A hydrophilicity of the first region is different from that of the second region.

Fuel battery

Disclosed is a fuel cell stack which is able to prevent corrosion from occurring in a separator. The fuel cell stack formed by arranging a terminal on both ends of a cell stacked body in which a plurality of cells including a membrane electrode assembly and separators interposing the membrane electrode assembly therebetween is stacked, includes a rust preventive plate which is arranged between a metal separator and a positive electrode terminal on a high potential side of the cell stacked body, and includes a material more noble than that of the separator in the surface.
