There is provided a nonaqueous electrolyte battery including a first electrode having a strip shape, a second electrode having a strip shape, a first electrode lead, a second electrode lead, a separator having a strip shape that is disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. A laminated electrode body, which is obtained by laminating the first electrode and the second electrode through the separator in such a manner that the second electrode lead is disposed at the other end portion of the second electrode not opposite to one end portion of the first electrode to which the first electrode lead is connected, is wound in a longitudinal direction with one end to which the first electrode lead is connected made as an initial end, and a wound electrode body is obtained.

Nonaqueous electrolyte battery

Anode active materials, anodes, and batteries are provided. In one embodiment, an anode active material includes particles consisting essentially of a material selected from the group consisting of silicon and an alloy of silicon. An average degree of circularity of the particles is 90% or less.

A secondary battery capable of improving the cycle characteristics is provided. The secondary battery includes a cathode, an anode, and an electrolytic solution. The electrolytic solution is impregnated in a separator provided between the cathode and the anode. The anode has an anode structure on an anode current collector. The anode structure has a structure in which a plurality of anode active material particles having silicon are held by a plurality of metal fibers forming a three-dimensional network structure. Due to the plurality of metal fibers, sufficient conductive paths are obtained among the plurality of anode active material particles. Thus, compared to a general anode in which an active material layer is provided on a current collector made of a metal foil or the like, the current collectivity is improved.

Anode and secondary battery

Provided are an anode capable of preventing an increase in impedance and variations in characteristics and a battery using the anode. An anode active material layer includes at least one kind selected from the group consisting of simple substances, alloys and compounds of silicon and the like capable of forming an alloy with Li. The anode active material layer is formed by a vapor-phase deposition method or the like, and is alloyed with an anode current collector. A coating including lithium carbonate is formed on at least a part of a surface of the anode current collector. Thereby, an increase in impedance can be prevented. Moreover, the anode is less subject to an influence by a difference in a handling environment or storage conditions, so variations in impedance can be prevented.

Anode and battery

A current collector includes a first principal plane and a second principal plane. In the current collector, the roughness of the first principal plane and second principal plane being mutually different.

An anode, an anode current collector, an anode active material and a battery using the anode are provided. The anode includes the anode current collector and the anode active material. The anode current collector has a projection. The anode active material layer is formed via at least one of a vapor deposition method, a liquid-phase deposition method, a sintering method and the like.

Anode and battery using the same

An anode active material capable of preventing shape deformation due to expansion and shrinkage and a battery using the anode are provided. An anode active material layer contains a powdery anode active material containing Si or Sn as an element. The average degree of circularity of the anode active material is 0.90 or less. By decreasing the average degree of circularity, the surface area becomes wide, and the reactive region becomes large. As a result, an intense local reaction is prevented, and the number of cracks resulting from expansion and shrinkage are reduced.

A battery with more superior reliability is provided. The battery includes: a battery element in which a cathode having a cathode active material layer on a strip-shaped cathode current collector and an anode having an anode active material layer on a strip-shaped anode current collector are layered with a separator in between, wherein the anode active material layer is provided to occupy a first region that is overlapped with a cathode active material layer formation region in which the cathode active material layer is provided on the cathode current collector and a peripheral region thereof in the anode, and out of a second region adjacent to the first region in the longitudinal direction in the anode, a width of a third region in which the anode active material layer is not formed and the anode current collector is exposed is smaller than a width of the first region.

Battery

Provided is a battery capable of obtaining superior cycle characteristics. The battery comprises a cylindrical type spirally wound body including a spirally wound laminate of a cathode and an anode with a separator in which an electrolyte solution is impregnated. The anode includes an anode current collector, an outer anode active material layer disposed on an outer winding surface of the anode current collector and an inner anode active material layer disposed on an inner winding surface of the anode current collector. The outer anode active material layer and the inner anode active material layer include Si, Sn or a compound thereof. The capacity ratio between the outer anode active material layer and the inner anode active material layer in at least one region is within a range of 0.6 to 0.8 inclusive.

The invention provides an electrode which can improve cycle characteristics by reducing structural destruction of an active material layer and reaction between the active material layer and an electrolyte according to charge and discharge, and a battery using it. A current collector made of a metal material containing a metal element which does not form an intermetallic compound with Li, such as Cu, Ni, Ti, Fe, and Cr; the active material layer containing Si, Ge, or an alloy thereof, and a thin film layer made of a metal material containing at least one of metal elements and metalloid elements which can make a solid solution with lithium and do not form an intermetallic compound with lithium, e.g. Cu, Ni are layered in this order. The current collector is alloyed with the active material layer, and the thin film layer is alloyed with the active material layer.

Electrode and battery using it

A battery capable of improving cycle characteristics is provided. An anode active material layer is formed by a vapor phase method, and includes Si as an element. In the anode active material layer, a plurality of primary particles formed by growth in a thickness direction are included, and the plurality of primary particles are agglomerated to form a plurality of secondary particles. Each secondary particle is separated by a groove formed by charge and discharge, and some of primary particles are split particles split by the groove. The average number of the split particles per secondary particle in 5 or more adjacent secondary particles is 10 or more. Moreover, the primary particles and the secondary particles are inclined to the same side.

Battery and method of manufacturing the same

The invention provides an anode capable of relaxing stress due to expansion and shrinkage of an anode active material layer associated with charge and discharge, or an anode capable of reducing structural destruction of the anode active material layer and reactivity between the anode active material layer and an electrolyte associated with charge and discharge, and a battery using it. The anode active material layer contains an element capable of forming an alloy with Li, for example, at least one from the group consisting of simple substances, alloys, and compounds of Si or Ge. An interlayer containing a material having superelasticity or shape-memory effect is provided between an anode current collector and the anode active material layer. Otherwise, the anode current collector is made of the material having superelasticity or shape-memory effect. Otherwise, a thin film layer containing the material having superelasticity or shape-memory effect is formed on the anode active material layer.

The invention provides an anode capable of inhibiting collapse of a shape of an anode active material layer and a side reaction with an electrolyte in accordance with the collapse, and inhibiting reduction in a battery capacity, and a battery using it. The anode comprises an anode current collector and the anode active material layer. The anode active material layer has a first layer containing Sn and a second layer containing an element other than Sn capable of electrochemically inserting and extracting Li. A component element of the anode current collector is preferably diffused in both the first layer and the second layer.
