A dot matrix display device includes a pixel redraw control unit and a decoder unit. The pixel redraw control unit generates a gate selection signal identifying an address in one direction, a source selection signal identifying an address in another direction intersecting the one direction, and image data which correspond to a pixel electrode part based on a serial signal including an address signal identifying an address of the pixel electrode part and an image signal supplied to the pixel electrode part. The decoder unit supplies a gate signal which activates a gate signal line corresponding to the pixel electrode part based on the gate selection signal, generates a source signal which activates a source signal line corresponding to the pixel electrode part based on the source selection signal, and supplies the image data to the pixel electrode part corresponding to the activated source signal line.

Dot matrix display device and time display device

An electronic timepiece includes a display, a driver that drives the display, and a CPU that controls the driver. The CPU inverts, in a time less than or equal to a reference inversion time and at an inversion timing of a constant polarity inversion cycle, a polarity of a voltage to be applied to the display. Additionally, the CPU outputs image data to the driver at an image update timing of a cycle that is synchronized with the inversion cycle and that is equivalent to a reference cycle equal to the inversion cycle multiplied by an inverse of an integer. The image update timing is a time when a reference adjustment time elapses after a timing of the reference cycle. The reference adjustment time is less than a time of the reference cycle and greater than or equal to the reference inversion time.

An electronic timepiece, comprises a timing section to perform timing of time based on an oscillation signal; an electric wave receiving section to receive an electric wave; a voltage detecting section to detect a power source voltage supplied from a power source section; and a stop control section to stop a receiving function of the electric wave receiving section and continue a timing operation of the timing section when the voltage detecting section detects that the power source voltage becomes lower than a first level range, and then to stop the timing operation of the timing section when a warning period for urging a user to perform the power generation by the power generating section elapsed in a state where the power source voltage is lower than the first level range without changing to a lower level than a second level range lower than the first level range.

An electronic timepiece comprises a drive module configured to drive a hand, an electricity generation module, first and second capacitor modules, the second capacitor module having smaller capacitance than the first capacitor module, and an auxiliary drive control module which causes the drive module to perform the auxiliary driving when the charge level of the second capacitor module exceeds a third level indicating an amount of electricity which enables the auxiliary driving, and waits until the charge level of the second capacitor module exceeds the third level after performing the auxiliary driving.

A stepping motor driving apparatus of an analog electronic clock, in which, when the rotation of a rotor is not detected after a pulse is supplied to a coil of a stepping motor, a first switching control section switches the pulse supplied to the coil to a pulse having a larger effective value, and when the rotation of the rotor is detected continuously for a predetermined period or a predetermined number of times, a second switching control section switches the pulse supplied to the coil to a pulse having a smaller effective value, wherein the apparatus further includes a third switching control section that switches a driving pulse to a pulse having a smaller effective value when the rotation of the rotor is not detected for two times continuously, even after the first switching section increases the effective value of the driving pulse for two times continuously.

Device and method of driving stepping motor of analog electronic clock

An electronic device comprising a solar cell, a secondary battery charged by an output from the solar cell, an illumination detector for detecting the brightness of the environment of the solar cell based on the output from the solar cell, a display unit, an electroluminescence (EL) element for illumining the display unit, an attitude detector for detecting an attitude of the electronic device, a driver for driving the EL element on the basis of the attitude of the electronic device detected by the attitude detector and the result of the detection by the illumination detector. Only when the illumination detector detects that the environment of the solar cell is dark, and the attitude detector detects that the electronic device takes a specified attitude, the EL element is turned on. Otherwise, the illuminator is not turned on. Thus, wasteful power consumption is suppressed to prolong the solar cell's service life.

A stopwatch according to the present invention can measure a lap time by the operation of a lap switch of a key input portion and stores the measured lap time in a RAM. When the lap switch is operated, a minute hand is immediately moved to a position of 0 o'clock, and is started its rotation from the position of 0 o'clock. The hand is rotated at such speed that the hand arrives at a position of 10 o'clock after the preceding lap time stored in the RAM is elapsed. In order to rotate the hand at the above described speed, a microprocessor unit calculates the time interval to supply pulse signal to a step motor. Since the hand is moved from the position of 0 o'clock to the position of 10 o'clock at the above described speed, percentage of the lap time being measured at present with respect to the preceding lap time can be immediately known.

Stopwatch

An electronic key apparatus wherein an encrypted code for unlocking an electronic lock is stored in an encrypted code storage register. A password is stored in a password storage register. The same password as that stored in the password storage register, is input via a switch. The password input by the switch is compared with the password stored in the password storage register, by a coincidence detection circuit. When a coincidence is detected, the encrypted code stored in the encrypted code storage register is transmitted to the electronic lock, by a transmitter.
