A first pixel circuit and a second pixel circuit are connected to a first data signal line. A third pixel circuit and a fourth pixel circuit are connected to a second data signal line. The first data signal line is connected to a first connection wire provided to a frame region. The second data signal line is connected to a second connection wire provided to the frame region. A sum of resistance values of the first data signal line and the first connection wire is smaller than a sum of resistance values of the second data signal line and the second connection wire.

Display device for repairing a defective pixel circuit and driving method thereof

Provided is a method for manufacturing a display device that allows easy and reliable repair of a pixel circuit by converting the pixel circuit into a black dot, and a display device. A repair wiring line configured to supply an off potential for turning a drive transistor to an off state is formed superimposed onto an impurity region of a semiconductor layer, interposed between a first compensation transistor and a second compensation transistor having a dual gate structure. The impurity region is irradiated with laser light, thereby connecting the impurity region and the repair wiring line. Then, the second compensation transistor is turned to an on state, thereby setting a potential of a node to the same potential as the off potential and turning the drive transistor to a normally-off state. As a result, a pixel circuit is converted into a black dot and thus repaired.

Method for manufacturing display device and display device

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device for which laser repair can be easily performed to correct a defect pixel, and/or a liquid crystal display device capable of reducing generation of contact failure and a short circuit. The liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a first substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a second substrate in the given order. The first substrate includes: an insulating substrate; a scanning line; a data line; a first insulating film disposed between the scanning line and the data line; a common line extending in an extension direction of the scanning line or the data line; a counter electrode facing the common line with the first insulating film in between; a switching element being connected to the scanning line and the data line; a second insulating film; a pixel electrode being connected to the switching element and the counter electrode; a third insulating film; and a common electrode being provided with an opening. The switching element, the second insulating film, the pixel electrode, the third insulating film, and the common electrode are disposed in the given order toward the liquid crystal layer.

Liquid crystal display device

A drain electrodeof a TFToverlaps with a gate electrode formed integrally with a gate line. A pixel electrodehas a main body part formed on a first side of the gate line, and an extension part extending in an extending direction of a data lineand covering an overlapping portion of the gate electrode and the drain electrode. The drain electrodeis not formed on a second side of the gate line, whereas the extension part of the pixel electrodeis formed also on the second side of the gate line. Even when a position of the pixel electrodeis shifted in the extending direction of the data line, a parasitic capacitance between a drain and a source of the TFTis kept constant, because an area of a portion where the extension part of the pixel electrodeoverlaps with the gate linedoes not change. With this, degradation of display quality due to a variation in the parasitic capacitance between the gate and drain of the TFTcan be prevented.

At least the first interlayer insulating layer has a contact hole (CH) formed therein through which the pixel electrode is electrically connected to the drain electrode. Active matrix substrate and liquid-crystal display device

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing alignment disorder of liquid crystal and having satisfactory VR characteristics. According to the present invention, a liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pair of substrates, the liquid crystal display device having a reflective region and a transmissive region. One of the pair of substrates includes a longitudinal projecting portion and a liquid-crystal-layer-thickness adjusting portion for setting a liquid crystal layer thickness in the reflective region to be smaller than a liquid crystal layer thickness in the transmissive region. At least a part of the projecting portion is arranged without a gap along at least a part of a step portion of the liquid-crystal-layer-thickness adjusting portion.

The present invention provides a semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device that presents excellent display quality in the reflective display, and that can be easily applied to high definition. The liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a first substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a second substrate, in this order. The first substrate has pixel electrodes having a structure composed of a trunk portion and a plurality of branch portions that branch off from the trunk portion. The liquid crystal display device has a display region that includes a region where the branch portions and slits are alternately disposed. The display region has a reflective region and a transmissive region. The reflective region has a pixel electrode, a reflective film disposed under the pixel electrode, and a &#x3bb;/4 retarder plate. The first best-fit curve, which is obtained from the gamma curve of the reflective display, is above the second best-fit curve, which is obtained from the gamma curve of the transmissive display, except in the regions where the reflectance of the first best-fit curve and the transmittance of the second best-fit curve are both 0% and 100%. The first best-fit curve does not have a gradation reversal and has an inflection point.

A liquid crystal display device of at least one embodiment of the present invention includes a TN-mode liquid crystal display panel which is constituted by pixels of three colors (red, green, and blue) and a color filter. A thickness of a liquid crystal layer (cell thickness) is determined on a basis of a retardation value of green light or red light, which has a larger wavelength than blue having shortest wavelength among the three colors. A display data switching circuit carries out gradation conversion of shifting input gradation values to lower gradation values with respect to image data supplied to pixels of blue. Thus, grayscale inversion is prevented. At a temperature at which a rise gray scale transition may occur in absence of a response condition does not exist for single overdrive, the signal processing section determines, as an output gray scale, a gray scale lower than a maximum gray scale with respect to a particular gray scale transition out of a rise type gray scale transition. A second replacement process section replaces the image data of the current frame with a second value. The first value is set to a value causing the pixel to respond at a relatively higher speed without the occurrence of the excessive brightness. Without avoiding the deterioration of the image, it is possible to drive a liquid crystal display apparatus including areas whose response speeds are different from each other coexist in the pixel, such as a liquid crystal display apparatus of vertically aligned mode and normally black mode.
