A light-emitting device includes: a substrate having an upper surface; at least one light-emitting element on or above the substrate, the at least one light-emitting element having a rectangular shape in a plan view from above the light-emitting device and having an upper surface serving as a light-emitting surface of the at least one light-emitting element; a plate-shaped light-transmissive member having a rectangular shape in a plan view from above the light-emitting device and having a lower surface that faces the upper surface of the at least one light-emitting element; and a light-guiding member that is disposed between the light-emitting element and the light-transmissive member.

An optical member holding device includes a holding member, an optical member and an elastic member. The holding member has a recess defined by one or more lateral surfaces and a bottom surface with a through-hole opening at the bottom surface. The optical member is disposed on the bottom surface of the recess, and includes a light transmissive part. The optical member has an upper surface and one or more lateral surfaces. The elastic member consists of an inorganic material. The elastic member includes a main part disposed on the upper surface of the optical member, and a plurality of supporting parts each extending outward and bending downward to be in contact with the one or more lateral surfaces of the recess and the one or more lateral surfaces of the optical member to exert elastic force that secures the optical member in a predetermined location in the recess.

A light emitting device is disclosed. The light emitting device includes a mounting board, one or more light emitting elements arranged on the mounting board, a frame disposed to surround the one or more light emitting elements, and a light transmissive member encapsulating an area surrounded by the frame. The frame has an inner perimeter that includes at least a pair of opposing sides and four acute-angled portions each provided at each end of the pair of opposing sides, in a plan view.

Method of manufacturing light emitting device with light-transmissive members

An LED module includes a mounting board and LED devices. The LED devices include at least one first LED device and second LED devices each including a light emitting diode element, a reflective member disposed lateral to the light emitting diode element, and a light transmissive member disposed above the light emitting diode element. The first LED device includes a reflective member on all lateral faces of the light transmissive member, and its upper face serves as a light extraction face. The second LED devices each includes the reflective member covering all of the lateral faces of the light transmissive member facing the at least one of the LED devices so that all of the lateral faces of the light transmissive members not facing any one of the LED devices and an upper face of a corresponding one of the second LED devices serve as light extraction faces.
