An electric storage device includes: an electrode assembly including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate that are insulated from each other; a pair of current collectors each of which includes a connecting portion and is connected to a corresponding one of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate at the connecting portion; a case that houses the electrode assembly and the pair of current collectors, the electrode assembly being supported by the pair of current collectors in the case; and a distance retaining member that retains a distance between portions more distal than the respective connecting portions of the pair of current collectors.

Electric storage device and spacer

An energy storage device includes a positive electrode terminal, a first electrode body and a second electrode body, and a positive electrode current collector electrically connecting the positive electrode terminal and the first and second electrode bodies. The positive electrode current collector includes a terminal connection portion electrically connected to the positive electrode terminal, inner electrode body connection portions connected to the first and second electrode bodies, and a coupling portion extending from an end of the terminal connection portion and coupling the terminal connection portion and the inner electrode body connection portions. The coupling portion has a substantially trapezoidal shape with a width at a connection end with the end of the terminal connection portion being larger than a width at a connection end with the inner electrode body connection portions.

Energy storage device

An energy storage device includes: an electrode terminal; an electrode assembly; a current collector configured to electrically connect the electrode terminal to the electrode assembly; and a container configured to store the electrode assembly and the current collector. The current collector includes a terminal connection part connected to the electrode terminal and an electrode assembly-connection part connected to the electrode assembly. The energy storage device further includes a spacer disposed lateral to the electrode assembly-connection part of the current collector. The spacer includes a restriction part configured to contact a part in a longitudinal direction of the electrode assembly-connection part of the current collector to restrict movement of the current collector in the longitudinal direction.

A metal foil extending outward from electrode plates stacked in a layered manner is sandwiched between a first metal member provided with damping portions and a second metal member, and ultrasonic vibration is caused to act upon a plurality of sites of action from the first metal member side to join the metal foil to the first and second metal members. Each damping portion includes at least one of a cutaway portion formed by cutting away part of the first metal member, a thick-walled portion formed by partially increasing the plate thickness of the first metal member, and a convex ridge portion formed by bending part of the first metal member into a convex ridge shape.

At least a connector of a current collecting member that is welded to an electrode plate of an electrode assembly is constituted by a rolled material, and the current collecting member and the electrode assembly are bonded to each other by vibration welding.

Provided is an electric storage device capable of suitably preventing damage to end portions of an electrode assembly due to vibration. A current collector and a backing member are cooperated and connected to each end portion of the electrode assembly in which a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate are stacked in layers. The backing member is composed of a base and a skirt.

A metal foil extending outward from an electrode plate is sandwiched between a first metal member and a second metal member, and ultrasonic vibration is caused to act upon a plurality of sites of action from the first metal member side to join the metal foil to the first metal member and the second metal member. The first metal member has a Vickers hardness of at least 40 Hv and not more than 75 Hv.

A sealed battery includes a lid closing a container of a sealed battery, an upper current collecting plate, a lead connecting an upper surface to an inner surface of the lid. A welding point of the lead is outside a position corresponding to a periphery of the cap. The lead includes a cylindrical lateral wall part extending vertically, an annular frame portion extending substantially horizontally from a first end of the lateral wall part, and a plurality of supplementary leads that extends substantially horizontally from a second end part of the lateral wall part. The frame portion extends from the first end part in substantially a first direction along a radial direction of the cylindrical lateral wall part, whereas the plurality of supplementary leads extends from the second end part in substantially a second direction opposite to the first direction along the radial direction.

Sealed battery and battery stack comprising a plurality of sealed batteries

A method for manufacturing highly reliable batteries includes the steps of placing in a battery container an electrode assembly; arranging an upper current collecting plate to be electrically connected to one of the electrodes of the electrode assembly; bringing a lead previously welded to the inner surface of a lid in contact with the upper current collecting plate; and welding the points of contact between the lead and the upper current collecting plate. Also batteries are produced by the method, and a method for inspecting battery including the steps of detecting defective welds by measuring alternating-current resistance of a battery.
