A substrate used for cast-coated paper, with the substrate having Cobb water absorbency of from 30 to 100 g/m and Oken smoothness of at least 30 seconds on the side where the cast-coated layer is to be provided, and a cast-coated paper which is produced using such a substrate to acquire ink jet recording suitability and improved productivity.

An ink jet recording material produced by preparing a material (i) for transfer use, which has on a support having a high surface smoothness an ink receiving layer comprising a porous inorganic composition and a resin component; preparing another material (ii) to undergo transfer, which has at least one ink receiving layer coated on at least one side of a substrate; bonding the ink receiving layer of the material (i) to the ink receiving layer of the material (ii) in tight contact to form a united ink receiving layer; and then peeling the support of the material (i) off the united ink receiving layer to reproduce the surface shape of the support at the surface of the united ink receiving layer; wherein the united ink receiving layer has a total thickness of at least 20 &mgr;m and a gloss of at least 60% when measured at the incident angle of 60&deg; according to JIS Z8741: and a method of producing the aforesaid ink jet recording material.

Ink jet recording material and method of producing the same

Provided is a cast-coated pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet which hardly causes a curling trouble after ink jet recording which comprises a cast-coated recording paper, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and a release coated paper laminated via the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the side opposite to the recording layer, with the adhesive sheet having a difference between the two characteristic values (A) and (B) within the range of 0.00 to 0.10%, expressed in absolute value, wherein the characteristic value (A) is an irreversible shrinkage factor of the cast-coated recording paper in the CD direction determined under an environment that the relative humidity thereof is raised to 90% from 35% and then lowered to 35% and the characteristic value (B) is a shrinking rate of the release coated paper in the CD direction determined under a condition that the relaltive humidity of the environment is changed from 75% to 60% in the course of lowering the relative humidity from 90% to 35%.

Cast-coated pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet for ink jet recording

Provided is a cast-coated paper suitable for ink jet recording which is produced in a process comprising a step of coating at least one side of a base paper with a coating composition comprising a pigment and a water base binder and a step of pressing the coated layer against a heated specular metal surface while the coated layer is in a wet condition; with the pigment comprising a synthetic silica having a BET specific surface area of 200-600 m.sup.2 /g in a proportion of at least 40 weight %, and with the water base binder comprising an hydrophilic urethane resin and casein in a mixing ratio of from 0.1 to 20 by weight.

Cast-coated paper for ink jet recording

Provided are a cast-coated paper suitable for ink jet recording and a production method thereof, with the cast-coated paper having an irreversible shrinkage factor in the crossing direction within the range of 0.00% to 0.20% when it is put under an environment that the relative humidity thereof is changed from 35% to 95% and further changed to 35%.
