The present invention provides an apparatus for producing thermoplastic resin pellets of uniform shape. The apparatus includes a batch-type polymerization vessel whose inner pressure can be controlled; a pelletizer for cutting a strand-form thermoplastic resin discharged from the polymerization vessel, thereby forming pellets; a pipe for transferring the pellets to a storage container by pneumatic transportation or suction transportation; a pressure differential measuring unit for determining variation in a pressure difference between the inlet and the outlet of the transfer pipe; and a pressure controlling unit for controlling the inner pressure of the batch-type polymerization vessel on the basis of the variation in the measured pressure difference; wherein the inner pressure of the batch-type polymerization vessel is controlled in relation to a pressure loss in the transfer pipe.

Apparatus for producing thermoplastic resin pellets

A polyamide resin composition contains a resin component containing at least a polyamide, a fatty acid metallic salt having from 10 to 50 carbon atoms, and an additive. The polyamide is obtained through melt polycondensation of a diamine component containing 70% by mol or more of m-xylylenediamine and a dicarboxylic acid component containing 70% by mol or more of an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. The additive is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a diamide compound obtained from a fatty acid having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms and a diamine having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, a diester compound obtained from a fatty acid having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms and a diol having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and a surfactant.

Polyamide resin composition

A polyamide resin composed of constitutional units derived from a diamine component 70 mol % or more of which is derived from p-xylylenediamine and constitutional unit derived from a dicarboxylic acid 70 mol % or more of which is derived from an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 6 to 18 carbon atoms. The polyamide resin has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 10,000 to 50,000 and a degree of dispersion (weight average molecular weight/number average molecular weight=Mw/Mn) satisfying the following formula (1):1.5&#x2266;(Mw/Mn)&#x2266;6.0,wherein Mw and Mn are determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC).

Polyamide resin

A copolyamide resin for molding including a diamine component which includes two or more diamines and a dicarboxylic acid component. The diamine component includes 70 mol % or more of a xylylenediamine which includes 20 mol % or more of p-xylylenediamine and the dicarboxylic acid component includes 70 mol % or more of a straight-chain aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 6 to 18 carbon atoms. The copolyamide resin contains particles having a major diameter of 50 &#x3bc;m or more in an amount of 1000 particles/g or less, the particles being made of a polyamide having a melting point higher than that of the copolyamide resin by 20&#xb0; C. or more when measured by a differential scanning calorimetry. The copolyamide resin has very uniform and stable properties and is excellent in any of mechanical properties, heat resistance, chemical and physical properties, and molding properties. An efficient production method of the copolyamide resin, its resin composition, and its molded article are also described.

Copolymerized polyamide resin, method for producing same, resin composition, and molded article formed from the copolymerized polyamide resin or the resin composition

A method of producing polyamide by the direct polycondensation of a diamine component and a dicarboxylic acid component without using a solvent, such as water. The diamine component containing 70 mol % or more of p-xylylenediamine is added to a reaction system containing the dicarboxylic acid component under pressure while maintaining the reaction system in a molten state. After the addition of the diamine component, the pressure of the reaction system is reduced to atmospheric pressure over 50 min or more at a pressure falling speed of 1.0 MPa/h or less. By the production method, polyamide with a small molecular weight dispersion is easily produced.

Method for producing polyamide

Provided are a resin composition which is colored little and has excellent gas barrier properties, transparency and mechanical properties, a method for producing it, and a shaped article. The composition is a polyester resin composition comprising from 2 to 30% by weight of a specific polyamide resin (A), from 69.5 to 97.99% by weight of a specific polyester resin (B) and from 0.01 to 0.5% by weight of a di- and/or tri-polycarboxylic acid compound (c), which satisfies a&#x2266;b, 60 &#x2266;a+b&#x2266;150, 1&#x2266;c&#xd7;Cc&#x2266;20, 1&#x2266;c&#xd7;Cc/(a&#xd7;Ca)&#x2266;12 (wherein a is a concentration of the terminal amino group of the polyamide resin (A), b is a concentration of the terminal carboxyl group of the polyamide resin (A), c is a concentration of the carboxyl group in the polycarboxylic acid compound (C), Cc is a concentration of the polycarboxylic acid compound (C) in the polyester resin composition, and Ca is a concentration of the polyamide resin (A) in the polyester resin composition (g/g). The method is for producing the resin composition; and the shaped article is obtained by shaping the resin composition.

Polyester resin composition, method for producing same and molded body

A process for producing polyamide which comprises directly melt polymerizing a diamine component, which comprises 70% by mole or more of xylylenediamine comprising 20% by mole or more of para-xylylenediamine, and a dicarboxylic acid component in the substantial absence of solvents in a reaction apparatus of the batch type, wherein a stirring apparatus disposed in the reaction apparatus and used for stirring the melted polymer in the apparatus comprises: (1) a rotating shaft connected to a driving member for stirring, (2) two or more stirring rods disposed in the substantially vertical direction which are cylinder-shaped members or plate-shaped members moving along the circumference of a circle having the center at the rotating shaft, and (3) a connecting member which connects the rotating shaft and the stirring rods; distances between the center line of the rotating shaft and center lines of the two or more stirring rods are each 15% or greater of the inner diameter of the reaction apparatus; the connecting member and the rotating shaft are disposed above the liquid surface of the melted polymer; and stirring is conducted in a manner such that the circumferential speed of the stirring rods is 30 m/minute or greater.

Process for producing polyamide

A polyamide resin composition contains a resin component containing at least a polyamide (X) and a fatty acid metallic salt having from 10 to 50 carbon atoms, and contains arbitrarily an additive (A) and/or an additive (B). The polyamide (X) is obtained through melt polycondensation of a diamine component containing 70% by mol or more of m-xylylenediamine and a dicarboxylic acid component containing 70% by mol or more of an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. The additive (A) is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a diamide compound obtained from a fatty acid having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms and a diamine having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, a diester compound obtained from a fatty acid having from 8 to 30 carbon atoms and a diol having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and a surfactant, and the additive (B) is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a metallic hydroxide, a metallic acetate salt, a metallic alkoxide, a metallic carbonate salt and a fatty acid.

An object of the present invention is to provide a process for producing thermoplastic resin pellets, which realizes production of pellets of uniform shape. Another object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for producing the thermoplastic resin pellets. The invention provides a process for producing thermoplastic resin pellets, including pressurizing the interior of a vessel holding a molten thermoplastic resin, thereby discharging the resin; forming pellets through solidification and cutting of the resin; and transferring the pellets to a storage container via a pipe by a pneumatic transportation or a suction transportation, wherein the amount of the resin discharged is regulated by controlling the pressure in the vessel so that variation in the difference pressure between the inlet and the outlet of the pipe for transferring the pellets is 10% or less.

Process and apparatus for producing thermoplastic resin pellets

There is provided a multilayer bottle comprising a barrel portion including an outermost layer, an innermost layer and at least one barrier layer interposed between the outermost layer and the innermost layer, which satisfies the requirements represented by the following formulae (1) to (3) at the same time:OTR&#x2266;0.2 cc&#xb7;mm/(m&#xb7;day&#xb7;atm)&#x2003;&#x2003;(1)where OTR represents an average oxygen transmission rate of the barrier layer of the barrel portion;20&#x2266;(Average degree of orientation of barrier layer of barrel portion)&#x2266;45; and&#x2003;&#x2003;(2)0&#x2266;&#xd7;100&#x2266;200&#x2003;&#x2003;(3)where 'a' represents an average thickness (&#x3bc;m) of the barrier layer of the barrel portion; and 'b' represents an average thickness (&#x3bc;m) of the barrier layer of a bottom portion of the bottle. The multilayer bottle is free from delamination owing to impact upon dropping even when the bottle is formed with irregularities and bends and therefore exhibits a large freedom of design choice.

Multi-layered bottle

There is provided a multilayer bottle including an outermost layer and an innermost layer which are each made of a thermoplastic polyester resin, and at least one barrier layer interposed between the outermost layer and the innermost layer. The barrier layer contains at least two components including a polyamide obtained by polycondensing a diamine component containing m-xylylenediamine as a main component with a dicarboxylic acid component containing an &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid as a main component, and a thermoplastic resin having a lower molecular weight than that of the polyamide. The multilayer bottle hardly suffers from delamination upon impact or dropping and, therefore, is not required to have a shape with less irregularities or less bends for preventing the delamination, and further has a large freedom of design choice.

Intercalates, exfoliates thereof, and nanocomposite compositions are formed by intercalating a layered silicate material, e.g., a phyllosilicate, with an oligomer or polymer intercalant that is a reaction product of at least one diamine with at least one dicarboxylic acid, to form a polyamide oligomer containing a xylylenediamine component. The oligomer or polymer may be formed in-situ by contacting the layered phyllosilicate with polymerizable monomer reactants using conditions to cause reaction and polymerization in the intercalating composition and intercalation of the resulting oligomer and/or polymer, between platelet layers of the phyllosilicate. An amine functionality of the oligomer or polymer is protonated for ion-exchange with interlayer cations of the phyllosilicate to bond the intercalant to the phyllosilicate platelet, at the protonated amine, at a negative charge site previously occupied by the interlayer cations.

Oligomer-modified layered inorganic compounds and their use in nanocomposites

A resin composition comprising melt blending a polyamide resin such as nylon MXD6 with a polyphenoxy resin. The polyamide resin and the polyphenoxy resin may be combined prior to or after melting and can be sandwiched between two PET layers in a perform mold to form an article capable of blow molding to form a container with improved delamination resistance. Also, intercalated layered materials are prepared by co-intercalation of an onium ion, an aromatic polyamide oligomer or polymer, e.g., nylon MXD6, and a polyphenoxy oligomer or polymer between the planar layers of a swellable layered material, such as a phyllosilicate, preferably a smectite clay. The co-intercalated layered materials are combined with the aromatic polyamide and polyphenoxy resin to form a nanocomposite composition for sandwiching between PET layers to form containers having improved delamination resistance.

Resin compositions, intercalates, nanocomposites and laminates prepared with aromatic polyamide and polyphenoxy polymers

The gas-barrier multi-layer structure of the present invention comprises at least one gas-barrier layer A and at lease one thermoplastic resin layer B. The gas-barrier layer A comprises a crystallizable polyamide resin which is produced by the polycondensation of a diamine component mainly comprising m-xylylenediamine with a dicarboxylic acid component comprising a C-C&#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-linear aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and isophthalic acid in a specific proportion so as to have a particular crystallization behavior. The gas-barrier multi-layer structure is excellent in the fabricability such as deep drawing ability and can be fabricated into a highly transparent shaped article with less discoloration and malodor generation.

In the production method of the present invention, the polyamide is produced by the polycondensation of a diamine component and a dicarboxylic acid component comprising a straight-chain &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid. The dicarboxylic acid component is first made into a suspension phase of the solid aromatic dicarboxylic acid in a molten straight-chain &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. A part of the diamine component is added while the reaction system is in the suspension phase. Then, the reaction system is made into a homogeneous molten phase, to which the rest of the diamine component is added. Finally, the reaction system is kept at temperatures within a specific range to complete the polycondensation.
