An airbag fabric, airbag and method for making the airbag fabric, the fabric consisting of warp and weft yarns of synthetic fiber yarn, characterized by satisfying the following requirements:

Woven fabric for air bags, air bags and process for production of the woven fabric

A coated airbag base fabric made of a textile fabric that has an excellent air-barrier property, high heat resistance, improved mountability and compactness and excellent adhesion to a resin film is characterized in that at least one side of the textile fabric is coated with resin, at least part of the single yarns of the fabric are surrounded by the resin, and at least part of the single yarns of the fabric are not surrounded by the resin. An airbag is characterized by using such a coated airbag base fabric. A method for manufacturing the coated airbag base fabric is characterized by applying a resin solution having a viscosity of from 5 to 20 Pa&#xb7;s (5,000 to 20,000 cP) to the textile fabric using a knife coater with a sharp-edged coating knife at the contact pressure between the coating knife and the fabric of from 1 to 15 N/cm.

Coated base fabric for air bags and air bags

To provide a fiberboard capable of reducing a load on the environment at all states of producing, using, and abolishing and moreover having a high degree of bending strength and a high bending-strength retention rate at high temperature and high humidity so as to be usable for an automobile interior material or building material and a fiber-board producing method. The fiberboard is formed by mixing natural fiber with polylactic acid resin serving as a binder and has an apparent density of 0.2 g/cm.

Fiber board and its producing method

A fabric for use as a base fabric in an air bag comprises a fibrous substrate having adhered to it a covering layer made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin and of 10 &mgr;m or less in average thickness. The adhesion between the fibrous substrate and covering layer is effected by causing the thermoplastic synthetic resin material of the covering layer to fill interstices between the fibers of the fibrous substrate. This may be achieved by applying to the fibrous substrate a solution or dispersion of the thermoplastic synthetic resin. An air bag may be constructed entirely from the fabric such that when it comprises sheet material additional to the base fabric, these may also be provided by the same fabric as that used for the base fabric.

Base fabric for air bags, a process for producing it and an air bag comprising it

A method for producing a fabric, by a loom equipped with healds, a reed and a back roller, characterized by using synthetic filament yarns as the warp yarns and the weft yarns to be supplied to the loom, using a drive system having a cam for the shedding and closing motions of the healds, and keeping the dwell angle of the healds in a range from 85 to 120 degrees. The back roller is equipped with a positive easing mechanism, and the easing quantity by the easing mechanism is adjusted in a range from about 5 to about 15 mm. Where the warp yarns positioned in the selvages of the fabric among the warp yarns are called selvage yarns and the warp yarns additionally added to the selvage yarns are called insert yarns, then the number of insert yarns per 10 selvage yarns is in a range of from 1 to 10, and one selvage yarn each and one insert yarn each are guided through each dent of the reed.

Method of making a fabric and a fabric obtained therefrom

A fabric for use as a base fabric in an air bag comprises a fibrous substrate having adhered to it a covering layer made of a thermoplastic synthetic resin and of 10 .mu.m or less in average thickness. The adhesion between the fibrous substrate and covering layer is effected by causing the thermoplastic synthetic resin material of the covering layer to fill interstices between the fibers of the fibrous substrate.
