A video recording apparatus includes a recording device having a location information area and a video data area. The location information area stores location information of video data stored in the video data area. The video data area stores the video data in units of blocks with a size of 1 MB or greater. The tail end of the block is used as a table of contents region for storing table of contents information of a plurality of the most-recent blocks. By providing the table of contents regions at a predetermined frequency, the tables of contents of all blocks being used in the video data area are retained in a distributed and redundant manner. Whenever the power supply is re-activated, the tables of contents regions are read, and pieces of the table of contents information are joined appropriately to construct a complete table of contents in memory.

Video recording apparatus and video recording method

The present invention provides a system for visualizing the congestion degree of an entire facility using a monitoring camera. The system detects a crowd from a monitoring camera video and derives the magnitude (number of people) of the crowd from the edge amount thereof, and thereby estimates a congestion state in a range of camera video. The system also calculates a human flow (amount of movement of people) on the basis of a number of passing people counter and the magnitude and movement speed of the crowd, etc., and estimates the number of people in an area other than the range of camera video on the basis of a modeled crowd behavior pattern. The model is constructed by selecting a distribution function and a parameter thereof by a statistical model selection technique such as a Bayesian Information Criteria (BIC). The congestion state is plotted on a map, allowing the congestion state of an area of interest to be grasped at once.

The A-NDR ranks each item of the video data with importance, and the control device controls the video data so as to read it in descending order of ranking.

To display the recorded contents of the images when the image recording apparatuses for recording the images taken by a camera are connected in plural, the image retaining ranges for the image recording apparatuses connected in plural are arranged and shown on the one screen with the horizontal axis determined as a time direction. And, the image retaining ranges for the image recording apparatuses are displayed with their displays varied visually depending on a frame rate.

An image storage system effectively stores image data captured by an image capture device in a plurality of image storage devices. Each of the image storage devices includes a storage unit for storing image data. An image storage device performing as a master among the image storage devices includes an image reception unit for receiving the image data captured by the image capture device. A storage unit provided in each of the image storage devices distributes the image data received by the image reception unit provided in the image storage device performing as the master to the respective image storage devices so as to be stored there.

A recording apparatus employs a circulating recording scheme for overwriting the oldest recorded data in a recording area having a limited storage capacity with the latest recorded data. The recording apparatus includes a memory device and a data recovery unit. A circulating memory apparatus and a data storage and distribution system using a circulating recording area effectively and having an improved access efficiency to the circulating recording area are disclosed. A memory area secured in a disk unit is used in circulation thereby to record the time series input data. The time series input data are edited into a data block of a predetermined size including a plurality of subblocks, and written into the disk unit by data block. In response to a request for outputting specific data, the data are read by subblock from the disk unit into a cache memory thereby to selectively output the specific data contained in the subblocks.
