The present invention is a sample processing apparatus. The apparatus includes: a sample processing unit configured to process a sample; a display; a memory for storing an electronic manual for the sample processing apparatus; and a controller that is capable of showing a relevant part of the electronic manual on the display when a trouble has occurred in the sample processing unit, the relevant part of the electronic manual describing an operation procedure to deal with the trouble.

A method for communicating information related to a diagnostic analyzer includes receiving user identification information from a portable computer. A user associated with the user identification information operates the diagnostic analyzer. First diagnostic analyzer information is retrieved from at least one database that relates analyzer information to the user of the diagnostic analyzer. The first diagnostic analyzer information is related to the diagnostic analyzer. The first diagnostic analyzer information is communicated to the portable computer. Second diagnostic analyzer information from the diagnostic analyzer is retrieved. The second diagnostic analyzer information is generated by the diagnostic analyzer. The present invention quickly resolves troubles in an analyzer and performs effective external quality control management. An analyzer () and a control device () are connected by a network (). Error data and sample data taken from an assay of a quality control substance are transmitted from the control device () to the analyzer (). The analyzer () is made to be remotely operable from the control device () and when problems arise, repair from the control device () is possible. The control device () tallies sample data and provides the tally results to a Web page. The analyzer () accesses the Web page using a WWW browser, and it can perform external quality control in real time.

A clinical laboratory management system is described that includes an analyzer for analyzing a sample, and a management apparatus connected to the analyzer.
