A vehicle power assist system can be applied to a vehicle with a driven wheel () that is mechanically unconnected to a main drive source () such as an internal combustion engine. The driven wheel () is supported by a wheel support bearing assembly () to which a drive assist, motor generator () is mounted. A rotor of the motor generator () is directly fixed to a rotational ring of the wheel support bearing assembly () without interposition of a speed reducing mechanism or a speed increasing mechanism. The vehicle power assist system includes a power storage unit () configured to store a regenerative power generated by the motor generator () and to supply the stored power to the motor generator ().

An auxiliary power unit equipped wheel support bearing assembly is provided which includes a wheel support bearing assembly and an auxiliary power unit. The auxiliary power unit is of a direct drive design that includes a stator mounted to a stationary ring of the wheel support bearing assembly and a motor rotor mounted to a rotational ring of the wheel support bearing assembly. An entirety of the auxiliary power unit is sized to extend less than an outer peripheral segment of a brake rotor, with the outer peripheral segment defining an area against which a brake caliper is intended to be pushed. The auxiliary power unit is, with respect to an axial direction, sized to be situated between a hub flange of the wheel support bearing assembly and a mounting face of the wheel support bearing assembly for mounting to a vehicle body of a vehicle.

A sensor target of the present invention is mounted to a movable part (), which is arranged in parallel with an output shaft () of a motor (), and is configured to perform a linear motion in a direction parallel to the output shaft (). Electrically operated actuator

A steering device is provided which allows the vehicle to move laterally and turn with a small radius, without using a complicated mechanism, and capable of stably controlling the steering angle during such modes. The steering device includes a pair of rack bars connected, respectively, to front right and front left vehicle wheels or rear right and rear left vehicle wheels, synchronizing gears disposed between the pair of rack bars, a synchronizing gear box retaining the synchronizing gears, a rack case fixed to the frame of the vehicle, and a fixing mechanism for fixing the synchronizing gear box to the rack case.

Steering device

A steering device includes tie rods connected to right and left wheels, and rack bars connected to the respective tie rods. The steering device is capable of simultaneously steering the right and left wheels to the right or left of the vehicle, by moving the rack bars to the right or left. A rack bar moving arrangement is provided which is capable of moving the rack bars in opposite directions by the same distance, and rack teeth are arranged along the opposite directions. The rack bar moving arrangement includes a synchronizing gear in mesh with the rack bars, and is configured to convert the movement of one of the rack bars in one of the opposite directions to the movement of the other of the rack bars in the other opposite direction, thereby steering the wheels in opposite directions.

Steering device and vehicle including the same

A vehicle is provided of which the four wheels are steerable, and which is prevented from unexpectedly moving forward or backward when switching the travel mode. The vehicle includes a steering device for front right and front left wheels of the vehicle capable of steering the front right and front left wheels, respectively, in one and the other of the right and left directions, a steering device for rear right and rear left wheels of the vehicle configured, simultaneously when the steering device for the front right and front left wheels are actuated, to be capable of steering the rear right and rear left wheels in the other and the one of the right and left directions, respectively, and in-wheel motors provided in at least one of each of the front right and front left wheels and each of the rear right and rear left wheels.

A sensor assembly is sandwiched together with a rubber material mixed with a vulcanizing agent in a mold assembly including an upper mold and a lower mold. The upper and lower molds, while completely sandwiching the sensor assembly, are heated for a predetermined length of time, and a pressure is then applied to the sensor assembly to complete a compressive molding.

In a wheel support bearing assembly including double row rolling elements between an outer member and an inner member, a sensor unit is fitted to one of the outer and inner members, which serves as a stationary member. The sensor unit is made up of a sensor mounting member and at least one or more strain sensors fitted to the sensor mounting member. A sensor signal processing circuit to process an output signal from the strain sensor is provided in the sensor mounting member.
