A print controller and method which include: a first step of waiting until one or more post-treatment functions is selected, or until a start instruction is entered; a second step of determining whether a specified post-treatment function of the post-treatment functions is selected, when the start instruction is detected; and a third step of enabling one or more of resource saving functions to be selected only if the specified post-treatment function is not selected, and of starting printing if another start instruction is detected after enabling the resource saving functions to be selected.

A print control program according to the present invention makes an information processor control a printer. The printer is connected to the information processor and can do printing under the conditions set. The set conditions can reduce the consumption of printing media by the printer. The program includes a first step through a fourth step. The first step is to wait until an instruction is entered into the information processor to start printing under the set conditions. The second step is to analyze the set conditions if the information processor detects the entered instruction at the first step. The third step is to form a preview image representing an image or images as printed under the analyzed conditions at least one of which has been changed to further reduce the printing medium consumption. The fourth step is to display the formed preview image on the display of the information processor.

Print control program and method

A printing system includes a plurality of printers, a plurality of information processing devices and a managing device which are interconnected via a network for data communication. Each of the information processing devices determines whether the number of printing sheets used in printing processes having been requested by the information processing device of concern belongs to a small number category or a large number category. If the number of printing sheets used is determined as belonging to the large number category, the information processing device of concern displays a window informing a user of the number of printing sheets used. On the other hand, if the number of printing sheets used is determined as belonging to the small number category, the information processing device of concern displays a window informing the user of the printing sheet saving rate.

A printing system according to this invention includes a display, a storage section, a determination section, and a control section. The display is capable of displaying an ECO mode recommending screen which recommends a plurality of ECO modes for selection. The storage section is configured to store therein a characteristic of a printing data item unsuited for ECO mode printing. The determination section is configured to determine whether or not a printing data item is suited for the ECO mode printing. The control section causes the display section to display the ECO mode recommending screen in response to a determination made by the determination section that the printing data item is suited for the ECO mode printing and then start a printing process in response to a printing instruction given by a user.

A printing control system includes: operation means configured to enter a first printing condition including the number of page images to be printed on one side or both sides of one printing sheet; and control means. The control means compare ratios of reduction in the usage of printing sheets provided by the one or more second printing conditions to a preset threshold value, and sets the first printing condition as the final printing condition when the ratios of reduction in the usage of printing sheets provided by the one or more second printing conditions are less than the threshold value while causing the display means to display the one or more second printing conditions when the ratios of reduction in the usage of printing sheets provided by the one or more second printing conditions are not less than the threshold value.

Printing control system and printing system

A printing system comprises a printer and an information processor, which includes a control unit. The control unit generates a print data file, which includes a resource saving flag and mode information. This information represents either a printing mode or a document filing mode, in which the printer operates. The control unit determines whether one or more specified resource saving functions of the printer are selected for the print data file in a main setting window. If so, the control unit turns on the flag and outputs the print data file as a first print data file to the printer. If not, the control unit turns off the flag and outputs the print data file as a second print data file to the printer. If a user is specified for the second print data file, the control unit outputs the file to the printer, with the mode information representing the document filing mode.
