Provided is a slider having appearance or texture which cannot be obtained with a slider body made of metal or synthetic resin in the related art and further having properties superior than those of sliders in the related art. A slider of an embodiment of the invention includes a slider body formed by sintered bodies containing zirconium oxide as a main component and a tab held by a tab attaching portion of the slider body.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording and reproducing device which has a magnetic recording medium, a magnetic head, and a recording current output unit. Magnetic data is recorded on the magnetic recording medium. The magnetic head records the magnetic data on the magnetic recording medium. The recording current output unit supplies a recording current to the magnetic head so as to magnetize the magnetic head. A waveform of the recording current has a first slope for a first period to record data of first information continuously and a second slope for a following second period to switch the data to data of second information and to record the data of the second information. The first slope and the second slope are different from each other.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head includes an air bearing surface, a magnetic pole having a distal end portion, a write shield opposed to the distal end portion of the magnetic pole across a write gap, and a high-frequency oscillator between the magnetic pole and the write shield in the write gap. The high-frequency oscillator includes a spin injection layer, an intermediate layer and an oscillation layer which are stacked in a head travel direction. A film thickness of the spin injection layer in the head travel direction at a height position away from the air bearing surface is greater than a film thickness of the spin injection layer in the head travel direction on the air bearing surface.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic head includes an air bearing surface, a first surface on which contact pads connected to elements are provided, a pair of second surfaces provided respectively with a connection terminal connected to the contact pad, a main pole with a distal end portion extending to the air bearing surface, a write shield opposing the distal end portion of the main pole with a write gap therebetween, and a high-frequency oscillator provided between the main pole and the write shield within the write gap and electrically connected to the main pole and the write shield. The high-frequency oscillator includes a spin injection layer and an oscillation layer, and at least the oscillation layer is recessed in a direction away from the air bearing surface.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head includes an air bearing surface, a magnetic core including a main magnetic pole and a write shield arranged to face the main magnetic pole with a write gap, a coil, and a high-frequency oscillator provided between the main magnetic pole and the write shield in the write gap. The magnetic core includes an opposite surface facing a film surface of the high-frequency oscillator, a magnetic layer, and a nonmagnetic layer in which magnetic microparticles are dispersed. The nonmagnetic layer is provided outside the magnetic layer in at least a part of the opposite surface of the magnetic core.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording head includes an air bearing surface, a main pole including an end portion exposed to the air bearing surface and configured to produce a recording magnetic field, a first shield opposing the end portion of the main pole with a first gap in a head run direction, and second shields disposed on both width direction sides of the main pole with second gaps, respectively. Each second shield includes a first side face opposing the end portion of the main pole with the second gap, and a second side face located on a side away from the main pole. The second side face is inclined to the main pole side towards a direction away from the air bearing surface.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic head is arranged opposite a magnetic recording medium including a recording layer. The magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a light emitting unit, and a distance adjusting unit. The magnetic pole includes a soft magnetic material. The light emitting unit is arranged with respect to the magnetic pole in a travel direction of the magnetic head, and emits light with respect to the recording layer. The distance adjusting unit adjusts a distance between the magnetic pole and the light emitting unit.
