There is provided an electric-power conversion apparatus in which a dead time can be set, while in an electric-power converter in which an AC current flows in a series circuit of switching devices, there is considered the effect of an error between a current value obtained for setting a dead time and an actual current value at a time of setting the dead time. An electric-power conversion apparatus, for a series circuit of each set, obtains a value of a current flowing in the series circuit is obtained; for an obtained current value, corrects a current error caused by a phase shift between a value of an actual current at a time when the dead time is set and the obtained current value; and set the dead time based on the corrected current value.

An image processing apparatus includes a QV converter that converts an electric charge accumulated in an effective pixel portion into an analog video signal and also converts an electric charge of a shaded pixel portion into an analog shaded signal, a signal processing section that processes output signals of the QV converter, a black level setting section that sets a black level from a black level target value, an A/D conversion section that A/D converts an analog output signal of the signal processing section after correction thereof by the black level, a CPU that processes a digital output signal D from the A/D conversion section, a noise determination section that determines a noise level from the digital output signal, a brightness measuring section that measures brightness information of a predetermined region, and a target value setting section that sets the black level target value based on the noise level and the brightness information.

Image processing apparatus

An image input apparatus can acquire an image with a high contrast without saturating a camera output even for a subject having a large light and dark difference while achieving a wide dynamic range. An image sensor has an input-output characteristic varying with a plurality of regions delimited according to a difference in the amount of incident light. A video luminance signal level is detected from a video signal of the image sensor. An amount of light on a screen is calculated from the image luminance signal level. The image sensor is adjusted to make the amount of light on the screen coincide with a target light amount. The target light amount is set such that a relation between the target light amount R and an amount of light Q at a change point that is at the lowest luminance in an input-output characteristic of the image sensor satisfies R&#x3c;Q.

Image input apparatus

An imaging apparatus of a wide dynamic range can be achieved at low cost while making improvement in contrast and the maintenance or reduction of a circuit size compatible with each other. The apparatus includes a photoelectric conversion part that converts a signal from a light receiving element into a voltage in accordance with an amount of incident light, an analog signal processing part that processes an analog video signal output from the photoelectric conversion part, an A/D conversion part that converts the analog video signal into a digital video signal, and a high frequency emphasis part that emphasizes a high frequency component of the video signal. The high frequency emphasis part suppresses a low frequency component of brightness in the video signal to emphasize the high frequency component, whereby image data of good contrast can be obtained while keeping a dynamic range of the signal.

Video imaging apparatus having non-linear input-output characteristic for improved image contrast control

A passenger protection apparatus of a simple construction is capable of stably performing air bag control and preventing erroneous control due to objects such as passenger's hands, newspapers, etc., other than passenger' head. A collision detection part detects a collision of a vehicle, and an object detection part detects an object in a prescribed object detection area rearwardly of an air bag installation surface in the vehicle based on a signal from a sensor. An air bag control signal generation part controls the expansion of an air bag based on the detection results of the object detection part and the collision detection part. The air bag control signal generation part makes the air bag control signal into an expansion permission signal only when an object exists in the object detection area at the time of detection of the collision or within a predetermined time from the detection of the collision.
