A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode has a positive electrode active material that contains composite oxide particles which include Ni, Co, Li, and at least one of Mn and Al, and in which the proportion of Ni in relation to the total number of moles of metal elements excluding Li is at least 80 mol %. In the composite oxide particles, the ratio (B/A) of the post-particle-compression-test BET specific surface area (B) with respect to the pre-particle-compression-test BET specific surface area (A) is 1.0-3.0. The non-aqueous electrolyte contains a non-aqueous solvent and a cyclic carboxylic anhydride such as diglycolic anhydride.

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell

This positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries comprises composite oxide particles which contain Ni, Co and Li, while containing at least one of Mn and Al, and wherein the ratio of Ni to the total number of moles of the metal elements other than Li is 80% by mole or more. The composite oxide particles are composed of particles in an aggregated state and particles in a non-aggregated state; and the content ratio of the particles in an aggregated state to the particles in a non-aggregated state is from 5:95 to 50:50 in terms of the mass ratio.

A wound battery includes an electrode assembly in which a first electrode and a second electrode are wound together via a separator, the electrode assembly being accommodated in a battery case including a bottomed tube-shaped metallic can. The first electrode has a first uncoated region defined by an exposed portion of a first current collector sheet at an end of the first current collector sheet in the axial direction of winding. The first electrode includes a first current collector lead connected to the first uncoated region. The first uncoated region is disposed on the same side as the open end of the metallic can. The second electrode includes a second current collector lead connected thereto. The first and the second current collector leads extend toward the open end of the metallic can. At least a portion of the first uncoated region is covered with an insulating layer, and the insulating layer extends beyond an end face of the first uncoated region.

Rolled-type battery

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode including a positive electrode mix layer, a negative electrode including a negative electrode mix layer, and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a nonaqueous solvent. A surface of the negative electrode mix layer is provided with grooves. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains 10 volume percent or more of a fluorinated solvent with respect to the volume of the nonaqueous solvent and has a viscosity (25&#xb0; C.) of 3.50 mPa&#xb7;s or more as measured with a differential pressure viscometer.

Nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery

The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material composed of a lithium-containing transition metal oxide having a layered crystal structure. The negative electrode contains a negative electrode active material composed of a Ti-based oxide and an additive composed of fluorinated carbon that reacts with lithium at a more noble potential as compared to the negative electrode active material. In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention, the battery voltage reaches a discharge cut-off voltage by a potential change in the negative electrode.

Nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery and method for manufacturing the same

A laminated battery provided with an electricity-producing element and an outer case. The electricity-producing element contains a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte. The outer case comprises two sheets of laminating film and includes the following: a containing section that contains the electricity-producing element; and a sealing section that is formed around the edge of the containing section by bonding the sheets of laminating film to each other. Corners are formed along the boundary between the containing section and the sealing section, and an adhesive resin layer in the sealing section is thicker in corner regions near the aforementioned corners than in other regions.
