A cathode ray tube having a double-layer low-reflective coating layer, or a triple-layer low-reflective coating layer including a high-refractive transparent conductive layer formed on the outer surface of a face plate thereof, and a low-refractive smooth transparent layer formed on the outer surface of the high-refractive transparent conductive layer, or a low-refractive transparent layer having concavities and convexities formed on the low-refractive smooth transparent layer, wherein yellow dye or pigment is added to at least one of said three layers, whereby the reflection spectrum in the visible ray region can be flattened so that a cathode ray tube is obtained in which reflection in the short wavelength region and long wavelength region can be reduced, coloring can be suppressed, and natural external reflected light can be obtained.

Cathode ray tube

A method of producing a cathode-ray tube (CRT) of anti-static-processed type and further a cathode-ray tube which screens a leakage electric field (VLF band width). The method including the steps of forming a high-refractive transparent conductive layer, a low-refractive smooth transparent layer, and a low-refractive rough transparent layer on a faceplate of the CRT. This triple coat layer serving to reduce the weight of the CRT, minimize the deterioration of the resolution and contrast of images displayed, diminish the reflection of external light, and provide sufficient film strength for practical use.

A cathode ray tube includes a face plate on which are formed a first transparent layer which has a high refractive index and is conductive and a second transparent layer which has a low refractive index. For an alternating electric field traveling forward in the direction of a tube axis 28 of a cathode-ray tube, a cone section 1b is formed with a conductive film 17 for shielding an electric field and/or a face panel 2 is formed with a transparent conductive film 21 for shielding an electric field and the transparent conductive film 21 is grounded or an optimum potential is given only to the transparent conductive film 21 for shielding an electric field.
