An electronic apparatus includes a touch panel with a detection function, an antenna for near field communication, a proximity sensor configured to detect proximity of a communication medium and located near the touch panel, and a processor. In a case that the proximity sensor detects the proximity of the communication medium for communicating with the antenna, the processor sets an operating mode of the electronics apparatus to a near field communication mode for a wireless transmission by the antenna and stops the detection function of the touch panel.

A strain quantity obtaining unit is provided that obtains a strain quantity at an interval faster than variation in the strain to be detected and stores the maximum value of the strain quantity. When a touch coordinate is obtained at a predetermined sampling interval, if the maximum value of the strain quantity when the touch coordinate is obtained does not exceed a strain quantity threshold value, the touch coordinate is not caused to be effective. However, if the maximum value of the strain quantity when the touch coordinate is obtained exceeds a strain quantity threshold value, the touch coordinate is caused to be effective. Electronic apparatus which effects touch coordinate based on proximity and strain

An electronic device includes a housing, a display that displays predetermined information, an electrostatic-capacitance touch panel that allows visible light corresponding to display contents of the display to pass through the touch panel, a transparent member that protects the touch panel and that allows the visible light to pass through the transparent member, and a detector that detects deformation of the transparent member. The touch panel detects a pair of two-dimensional coordinates indicated by an indicator, wherein when the touch panel detects a plurality of pairs of two-dimensional coordinates and when the detector detects a predetermined deformation amount; at least one pair of two-dimensional coordinates detected during a predetermined time period prior to a time when the deformation is detected is validated.

An electronic apparatus includes a display unit that displays information, a capacitive touch panel layer that transmits display of the display unit, and detects coordinates indicated by an indicator separated from a surface in a predetermined distance, a glass that protects the touch panel layer, and transmits the display of the display unit, a pressure sensor that detects distortion of the glass, and a control unit that validates and invalidates the coordinates detected by the touch panel layer. The control unit validates the coordinates detected by the touch panel layer in a case where the indicator is an active pen, and validates the coordinates most recently detected by the touch panel layer, when a predetermined amount of distortion is detected by the pressure sensor, in a case where the indicator is other than an active pen.

Provided is an electronic apparatus including a casing, a display unit, an electrostatic capacitive touch panel, a gravity sensor, and a step. The display unit is disposed in the casing, has a predetermined shape, and displays predetermined information. A touch panel has a first zone, a second zone and a third zone. The first zone includes a first vertical distance, which is less than a first value and greater than a second value, from the surface of the planar display, and includes a center of the planer display. The second zone includes the first vertical distance and is located outside the first zone with respect to the two dimensional coordinates. The third zone includes a second vertical distance, which is greater than the first value, from the surface of the planar display. When the indicator directly enters the second zone from the third zone, the two dimensional coordinates of the indicator are invalid. An electronic device includes a housing, a planar display section, a planar transparent member, a touch panel layer which detects two-dimensional coordinates of an indicator having a predetermined conductivity along a surface of the display section and a vertical distance to the indicator, and an acceleration detection section which detects at least one of an acceleration of the housing and an acceleration of the transparent member. The two-dimensional coordinates are determined as effective coordinates when the vertical distance is equal to or smaller than a first value. The two-dimensional coordinates are determined as the effective coordinates when the vertical distance is more than the first value and is equal to or smaller than a second value more than the first value, and the acceleration detection section detects a predetermined acceleration.

An electronic device includes a planar display and a touch panel, which overlaps the display. The touch panel has a detection zone that covers at least a vertical distance which is less than a first value and greater than a second value which is smaller than the first value and where two dimensional coordinates and the vertical distance can be detected. A portable electronic device includes a display unit on which a pointer is displayable, and a touch panel which is arranged to overlap the display unit and is capable of detecting a distance from an indicator. The pointer moves according to a movement of the indicator, and when the distance is equal to or less than a first distance and is greater than a second distance smaller than the first distance in a predetermined region of the touch panel, a length of the movement of the pointer has a predetermined magnification to a length of the movement of the indicator.

A control unit causes a first display and a first vibration when a finger has continued to exist in a first X-Y region of a touch panel and a first Z region for a prescribed time. When the finger being in a second X-Y region of the touch panel enters a second Z region from the first Z region, the control unit activates a prescribed function and causes a second display and a second vibration. When the finger being in the second X-Y region enters the second Z region before the finger continues to exist in the first Z region for the prescribed time, the control unit causes only a third display and a third vibration without activating the prescribed function.
