A file transfer system transfers a target file updated in a first computer to a second computer for each part obtained by dividing the target file and includes: an update recording unit that records an update position of the target file in the first computer as an offset flag; an update determination unit that refers to the offset flag and determines presence or absence of update for each part of the target file; and a transfer unit that transfers the part determined to have update by the update determination unit to the second computer, in which when re-update in which the target file is updated after the transfer unit starts transferring any part included in the target file occurs, the transfer unit transfers, to the second computer, a re-update part that is the part updated by the re-update, regardless of whether or not the re-update part has already been transferred.

When a transfer target file is updated during multiple part upload of the transfer target file to an external storage system, a file storage system stops the multiple part upload of the transfer target file, and performs multiple part upload of the updated file to the external storage system.

File storage system and file transfer method

In a file storage that is coupled to a cloud storage storing data and manages a file, the cloud storage compresses and stores the data, and the file storage includes a processor. When data of a part of a file held in the file storage is updated, the processor is configured to compress updated update part data so that the update part data is in a compressed state and transmit the update part data in the compressed state to the cloud storage, and cause the cloud storage to replace the updated part of the file with the update part data and to store a range including the update part data in a compressed state in the cloud storage.

In file storage, a CPU is configured to: divide a file into a plurality of chunks, execute encoding processing on at least one of the chunks to obtain an encoded chunk, and store in cloud storage a plurality of chunks of the file including the encoded chunk; acquire, when receiving a read command of which target is data of a part of a file stored in the cloud storage, a read target chunk including data, which is a target of the read command, from the cloud storage; and execute, when an encoded chunk is included in the read target chunk, decoding processing on the encoded chunk, identify data that is a read target from the read target chunk including the chunk having been subjected to decoding processing, and hand over the identified data to a command source of the read command.
