An endoscope system includes: an endoscope configured to generate an imaging signal and output the generated imaging signal; an image processing device configured to perform image processing on the imaging signal input from the endoscope; a display configured to display an image of a subject based on the imaging signal subjected to the image processing by the image processing device; and a first processor configured to calculate a sum of a first processing time from when the endoscope generates the imaging signal to when the endoscope outputs the imaging signal, a second processing time from when the image processing device receives the imaging signal to when the image processing device outputs the imaging signal to the display, and a third processing time from when the display receives the imaging signal to when the display displays the image based on the imaging signal.

A processing device includes a processing circuit configurable according to a type of an endoscope, and a control circuit configured to detect a connection state of the endoscope, and measure a disconnection time from disconnection to reconnection. An endoscope system includes: an endoscope having an image sensor configured to image an inside of a subject; a processor configured to perform predetermined image processing on a video signal that is imaged by the image sensor; a storage that is provided in the endoscope, the storage being configured to store compressed data obtained by compressing data volume of first non-compressed data that is used for correction of an image imaged by the image sensor; a restoring circuit configured to read the compressed data from the storage to restore the compressed data to the first non-compressed data when data is transferred from the endoscope to the processor; and an image correcting circuit that is provided in the endoscope, the image correcting circuit being configured to correct the image imaged by the image sensor by using the first non-compressed data restored by the restoring circuit.

A first signal processing apparatus includes: an image processing unit configured to at least execute a composition process of generating composed image information in which first image information or second image information and textual information are superimposed; and a control unit configured to control the process of the image processing unit in accordance with communication with a second signal processing apparatus. The control unit selects either one of the first image information and the second image information, and when the second image information is selected, the control unit outputs a first command for instructing the second signal processing apparatus not to superimpose the second image information and the textual information related to the second image information, and causes the image processing unit to generate composite image information in which the second image information and the textual information related to the second image information are superimposed.
