The present invention provides a method for producing an optical compensating sheet, comprising a step of simultaneously coating at least two coating solutions on a transparent support, wherein at least one of the coating solutions simultaneously coated in that step contains a liquid crystalline compound and another coating solution contains a surface active agent; an optical compensating sheet obtained by this method; an optical film comprising a support having thereon an optically anisotropic layer formed containing a liquid crystalline compound and a fluoroaliphatic group-containing copolymer containing a repeating unit derived from a fluoroaliphatic group-containing (meth)acrylate monomer and a repeating unit derived from a polyoxyalkylene (meth)acrylate monomer; and a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device each using the optical compensating sheet or optical film.

A photothermographic image-recording material with improved storability before image formation and improved coating characteristics, which has a support having provided thereon an image-forming layer, the layer having at least one light-insensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ion and a binder, wherein the binder has a polymer having a recurring unit represented by the formula (1), and the content of the recurring unit represented by the formula (1) in the polymer is from 0.1 to 50% by weight.

Photothermographic image-recording material

A silver halide photosensitive material comprises a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer on a support. The photosensitive material has a layer comprising an emulsified dispersion containing a surfactant represented by formula (I), and an emulsion containing tabular silver halide grains having an average aspect ratio of 8 or greater, and at least one sensitizing dye.(R-LJA)&#x2003;&#x2003;General formula (I)wherein A represents an acid group or a metal salt thereof, Rrepresents an aliphatic group containing a linear aliphatic group having 6 or more carbon atoms as a partial structure thereof and having the total number of carbon atoms of 17 or more, L represents a bivalent group, J represents a linking group of n+m valence, n is an integer of 1 to 6, and m is an integer of 1 to 3. The molecular weight of surfactant of the formula (I) divided by m is 430 or greater.

Silver halide photosensitive material

A fluorocompound denoted by general formula (1) below(wherein Rdenotes a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having a total of at least six carbon atoms, with Rnot being an alkyl group substituted with a fluorine atom; Rdenotes a perfluoroalkyl group having not more than six carbon atoms; either Xor Xdenotes a hydrogen atom and the other denotes SOM; M denotes a cation; and n denotes an integer of not less than 1) was disclosed. Fluorocompound, silver halide photographic light-sensitive material, surfactant, and water-based coating composition employing same

Disclosed is a thermally processed image recording material having an image-forming layer that contains a non-photosensitive silver salt of an organic acid, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder on a support, wherein the binder is coated as a dispersion of polymer microparticles having a core/shell structure, glass transition temperature of shell part of the core/shell structure is higher than glass transition temperature of core part, and the binder shows a minimum film-forming temperature of 30&deg; C. or lower. According to the present invention, there is provided a thermally processed image recording material that provides improved image storability after heat development, i.e., improved coloration of white portions when the material is left at a high temperature, and has a transparent coated film with low haze that is also excellent in brittleness.

Thermally processed image recording material

An anti-reflection film comprises a low refractive index layer. The low refractive index layer comprises a polymer binder and micro particles. The micro particles are so deposited to superpose at least one micro particle on another micro particle, to form micro voids surrounded by the micro particles. The micro particles have a mean particle size of 5 to 200 nm. A display device provided with the anti-reflection film is also disclosed.

Anti-reflection film and display device having the same

In a processing method wherein, after a silver halide color photographic material is subjected to color development, the silver halide color photographic material is desilvered and then washed and/or stabilized, a photographic material that has at least one high-silver chloride emulsion layer, and in which at least one emulsion layer contains a monodisperse emulsion, is rapidly processed with a color developer having a water-soluble high polymer compound. The coating amount of silver of the said silver halide color photographic material is preferably 0.75 g/m or less, and the color developer contains chloride ions in an amount of 0.035 mol/liter or more. In continuous and rapid processing, fluctuations of photographic properties (particularly changes in sensitivity and gradation) are remarkably reduced, the ununiformity of developed density is remarkably improved, and the occurrence of a deposit on a processing tank wall surface is prevented.

Method for processing silver halide color photographic material

There is disclosed a transparent magnetic recording medium comprising at least one magnetic recording layer containing ferromagnetic particles, on a support, wherein an overcoat solution which comprises at least one kind of lubricant wax dispersion and at least one kind of anionic surfactant in an amount of 0.1% to 30%, based on the total weight of the lubricant wax dispersion, is coated on the at least one magnetic recording layer. There is also disclosed a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material having the transparent magnetic recording layer. The transparent magnetic recording medium can exhibit both a good state of coated surface and secure magnetic input/output performance. The silver halide photographic light-sensitive material can provide a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material having the transparent magnetic recording layer with the above-described property.

Transparent magnetic recording medium

An anti-reflection film comprises a high refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.65-2.40, and a low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.20-1.55. Another anti-reflection film comprises only a low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.20-1.55. In the invention, the first improvement resides in a high refractive index layer composed of inorganic fine particles having a mean particle size of 1-200 nm in an amount of 5-65 vol. % and a crosslinked anionic polymer in an amount of 35 to 95 vol. %. The second improvement resides in a low refractive index layer composed of inorganic fine particles having a mean particle size of 0.5-200 nm in an amount of 50-95 wt. % and a polymer in an amount of 5-50 wt. %, and two or more of those particles are piled up to form micro voidsby the adjacent particles.

Anti-reflection film and display device using the same

An anti-reflection film includes a transparent support and a low refractive index layer. A refractive index of the low refractive index layer is lower than a refractive index of the transparent support. The low refractive index layer contains micro voids in an amount of 3 to 50 volume % of the low refractive index layer. The anti-reflection film further has an overcoating layer provided on the low refractive index layer. The overcoating layer contains a fluorine compound. The fluorine compound is not present in the micro voids, or an amount of the fluorine compound present in the micro voids is less than 70 volume % of the micro voids.

An anti-reflection film has a low refractive index layer and a high refractive index layer. The low refractive index layer is formed by coating a composition comprising (a) a hydrolysis product or a partial condensation product of an organosilane and (c) a vinyl resin. The organosilane is represented by the formula of R.sup.1 Si(OR.sup.2).sub.3 in which R.sup.1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, and R.sup.2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or an acyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The vinyl resin has at least one silyl group substituted with a hydrolyzable group or hydroxyl.

Processing a silver halide color photographic material comprising color developing, desilvering and water washing and/or stabilizing. In this process, a photographic material which has at least one emulsion layer containing a high silver chloride content, and at least one emulsion layer containing a monodisperse emulsion, is continuously processed with a color developing solution containing a water-soluble high polymer compound. The coated amount of silver in the photographic material is preferably 0.75 g/m.sup.2 or less. The color developing solution preferably has a chloride ion content of 0.035 mol/l or more. The water soluble high polymer compound can be a polyester, polyamide, polyurethane, polyether, polycarbonate or a natural high polymer compound, or their derivatives. It is obtained by polymerizing or copolymerizing a monomer containing a copolymerizable ethylene type unsaturated group. The high polymer compound is preferably added in the amount of 0.001-10 g per liter of the color developing solution. By using this process, fluctuations in photographic properties is remarkably reduced, uniformity in developed density is remarkably improved, and the prevention of deposits on the processing tank wall surface is improved.

A silver halide photographic material is disclosed which comprises a support having provided thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein at least one photographic layer in the photographic material contains a high molecular weight compound having a repeating unit represented by formula (I) and a solid fine particle dispersion of a dye: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and M.sub.1 and M.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom or a cation.

Silver halide photographic material

An object of the present invention is to provide a silver halide photographic material having improved antiblocking property without deterioration of film brittleness and image quality due to addition of a polymer latex. A silver halide photographic material having at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one nonsensitive protective layer on a support, in which the nonsensitive protective layer contains polymer grains represented by the following General Formula (1) in a proportion by weight of 5 to 300% to a hydrophilic colloid as a binder, and the polymer grains have a mean grain diameter of at most 0.1 .mu.m,
