A cemented optical element includes a convex lens and a concave lens. The convex lens has a first convex surface and a second convex surface that are rotationally symmetric with respect to an optical axis. The convex lens has an edge with a thickness of substantially zero. The concave lens has a concave surface bonded to the first convex surface of the convex lens. Preferably, the peripheral portion of the concave lens extends radially outwardly beyond the convex lens to the extent that it is located within an area surrounded by an extension zone of the second convex surface of the convex lens.

Cemented optical element

This is to shed light on a glass composition suitable for a thin lens, and provide a lens (an optical component) manufactured with using the glass. A concave lens as an optical component is made of glass containing 12 to 16% of BO, 35 to 44% of LaO, and 3 to 8% of ZnO, expressed as wt %. The concave lens has a thickness tin its center portion of 0.5 mm or less, and a ratio (W/t) of an external diameter W with respect to the thickness tof 24 or more. The concave lens can be produced suitably by press forming.

Optical component and method for producing the same

An optical element includes: an optically functional part having a first convex surface and a second convex surface intersecting with an optical axis and facing opposite to each other; and an outer peripheral part provided around the optically functional part, the outer peripheral part having a first outer peripheral surface extending from a periphery of the first convex surface and a second outer peripheral surface extending from a periphery of the second convex surface. The first outer peripheral surface and the second outer peripheral surface each are formed to be tapered. A thickness of the outer peripheral part in an optical axis direction is reduced toward a direction moving away from the optical axis.

Optical element

A concave lens as an optical component is made of glass containing 20 to 22% of BO, 30 to 40% of LaO, and 19 to 25% of ZnO, expressed as wt %. The concave lens has a thickness tin its center portion of 0.5 mm or less, and a ratio (W/t) of a diameter W with respect to the thickness tof 24 or more. The concave lens can be produced suitably by press forming.

A light entrance region () is provided at the center of the first optical surface (), a light exit region () is provided at the center of the second optical surface () and a substantially flat light reflecting region () is provided at the center of the third optical surface (). Suppose that there is a virtual surface between the light reflecting region () and the first optical surface (), the virtual surface is positioned more inward in the prism than a peripheral region of the third optical surface () extending from the light reflecting region () to an edge () between the third optical surface () and the first optical surface ().

A second optical element is bonded to a first optical element by forming the second optical element larger in diameter than the first optical element by pressing a second optical element material against the first optical element under a condition free from restriction to at least part of the second optical element material in the direction orthogonal to a direction in which the second optical element material is pressed.

A method of manufacturing a glass substrate for a storage medium by pressing a glass material between an upper and a lower dies. The method includes a heating step of heating the glass material arranged between the upper and lower dies, a pressing step of pressing the heated glass material via the upper and lower dies, and a cooling step of having, after the pressing step, a cooling member contact the upper and lower dies to cool them together with the molded glass material arranged between the upper and lower dies. Method and apparatus for manufacturing glass substrate for storage medium

A glass material ( ) is placed in a forming die including a pair of upper and lower dies ( ) and a control member ( ) for controlling the space between the upper and the lower die, and then heated, softened, and molded by pressure into a glass substrate in the shape of a parallel plate. The amount of thermal contraction of the control member is smaller than that of the glass material. Therefore, the glass substrate is released from the die when cooled after molding. The present invention can provide a glass substrate that is excellent in smoothness and form accuracy of the surface, and that is suitable for recording media such as magnetic disks that are inexpensive and suitable for mass production.

A linear actuator in a simple structure with an excellent S/N characteristic has a movable coil incorporating a pair of magnetic circuits 8a and 8b.
