A control device for an internal combustion engine includes an information acquirer, a first computing unit, and a second computing unit. The information acquirer acquires information on a state amount that changes depending on the operation state of the internal combustion engine. A region determiner determines whether the state amount falls within a set region. The first computing unit uses an in-region state amount within the set region, as an input value to compute a control amount of the internal combustion engine by a neural network. The second computing unit selects a reference state amount within the set region, based on the out-of-region state amount, uses the selected reference state amount as an input value to compute a reference control amount by the neural network, and computes the control amount corresponding to the out-of-region state amount based on the computed reference control amount.

A target injector valve opening period is calculated based on a target fuel injection amount, and an injector () is controlled by a current supply control unit () in accordance with an injector drive period acquired based on the target injector valve opening period. An actual valve closing delay period is calculated based on a drive waveform of the injector () at this time, and a difference between an actual valve closing delay period and a valve closing delay period calculated from a target injector valve opening period is learned. Then, the injector drive period is corrected by feedback control using a result of this learning.

The throttle opening is controlled to be the target throttle opening. An exact atmospheric pressure can be thus estimated even in the presence of a variation in throttle machine difference.

In a turbocharged internal combustion engine, an amount of cylinder suction air is calculated with sufficiently high accuracy to suitably control the internal combustion engine in consideration of influences of an exhaust pressure on a volumetric efficiency equivalent value without requiring a huge memory capacity, in fewer adaptive man hours, and under a low operation load. A correction calculation parameter is calculated using an exhaust pressure, an exhaust pressure for pre-correction volumetric efficiency equivalent value, and an intake manifold pressure, and a post-corrected volumetric efficiency equivalent value is calculated by correcting a pre-correction volumetric efficiency equivalent value using the correction calculation parameter. An amount of air entering a cylinder from an intake manifold is calculated on the basis of the post-correction volumetric efficiency equivalent value.

There is provided an internal combustion engine control apparatus including an exhaust gas recirculation amount estimation unit that can estimate an EGR flow rate with an accuracy enough to appropriately control an internal combustion engine. An internal combustion engine control apparatus according to the present invention has an exhaust gas recirculation amount estimation unit that learns the relationship between a detected opening degree of an exhaust gas recirculation valve and a calculated effective opening area of the exhaust gas recirculation valve and estimates an exhaust gas recirculation amount, based on the relationship between a control exhaust gas recirculation valve effective opening area calculated based on the learning and an opening degree of the exhaust gas recirculation valve; for controlling an internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine control apparatus utilizes the exhaust gas recirculation amount estimated by the exhaust gas recirculation amount estimation unit.

There is provided an internal combustion engine control apparatus that can more accurately calculate a volume efficiency correction coefficient and can more accurately estimate the amount of air that flows into a cylinder and the external exhaust gas recirculation amount. In an internal combustion engine provided with an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus including an exhaust gas recirculation valve and an exhaust gas recirculation path, based on a cylinder flow rate, an exhaust gas recirculation amount, an inner-intake-pipe density, and an inner-intake-pipe density changing amount, a volume efficiency correction coefficient, as a volume efficiency corresponding value, is calculated; then, by use of the calculated volume efficiency correction coefficient, a cylinder intake air amount and a recirculation amount of exhaust gas that is taken into the cylinder are calculated.

A desired wastegate valve opening degree is set in accordance with a driving condition of an internal combustion engine; based on a detected rotation speed of the internal combustion engine and a set desired wastegate valve opening degree. An ECU determines whether or not supercharging air to the internal combustion engine is required. If the supercharging air is not required and if the opening degree of the wastegate valve becomes a desired valve, a driving current supplied to the wastegate actuator from a wastegate valve driving unit is stopped.

An estimation device for a cylinder intake air amount and an internal EGR rate in an internal combustion engine is provided which is capable of making an estimation with a high degree of accuracy in a small number of adaptation constants.
