A swash plate includes a boss, which is mounted on the drive shaft, and a plate portion, which extends from the boss to be inclined with respect to the drive shaft. A rotary valve includes a suction passage, which sequentially connects cylinder bores in a suction stroke via an associated guide passage. An introduction guide communicates with the shaft bore to introduce the refrigerant gas in the swash plate chamber to the rotary valve. The introduction guide faces the boss and extends in the radial direction from the shaft bore beyond the boss. Therefore, suction efficiency of refrigerant gas from the swash plate chamber to the cylinder bore has improved.

Swash plate type compressor

A mechanism for drawing in refrigerant to front compression chambers () of a double-headed piston type compressor differs from a mechanism for drawing in refrigerant to rear compression chambers (). More specifically, the mechanism for drawing in refrigerant to the front compression chambers () include suction valves () configured by flap valves. The mechanism for drawing in refrigerant to the rear compression chambers () is configured by a rotary valve (). Thus, pulsation of the compressor is reduced, so that the generation of noise is suppressed. As a result, a quiet compressor is achieved.

Double-headed piston type compressor

A variable displacement compressor has a housing, a drive shaft, a rotor, a swash plate, a piston and a decelerating mechanism. The housing includes a cylinder bore and supports the drive shaft. The rotor is secured to the drive shaft. The swash plate is operatively connected to the rotor and the drive shaft so as to rotate therewith and varies its inclination angle relative to the drive shaft. The piston is connected to the swash plate so as to reciprocate in the cylinder bore with rotation of the swash plate. A stroke of the piston varies in accordance with the inclination angle of the swash plate. The deceleration mechanism between the rotor and the swash plate decelerates the inclination speed of the swash plate in a range from a near maximum inclination angle to the maximum inclination angle when the swash plate inclines to increase the stroke of the piston.

Variable displacement compressor with decelerating mechanism for noise inhibition

Compressor are taught that may include a suction port to draw refrigerant and a discharge port to discharge compressed refrigerant. A driving shaft is disposed within a compressor driving chamber. A swash plate is inclinably and slidably coupled to the driving shaft. The swash plate rotates together with the driving shaft at an inclination angle with respect to a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the driving shaft. A cylinder bore is disposed adjacent to the compressor driving chamber. A piston is disposed within the cylinder bore and an end portion of the piston is connected to a peripheral edge of the swash plate by a shoe. Preferably, the piston reciprocates within the cylinder bore to compress the refrigerant in response to rotation of the inclined swash plate. A rotor is connected to the driving shaft. A hinge mechanism connects the swash plate with the rotor and transmits torque from the driving shaft to the swash plate regardless of the inclination angle of the swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a projection disposed on one of the rotor or the swash plate and at least one arm disposed on the other of the rotor or the swash plate. The projection has a recessed structure and at least one arm is coupled to the projection to transmit torque from the driving shaft.

Compressors

A lug plate is secured to a drive shaft which is rotatably supported in a housing so as to rotate together with the drive shaft, and a swash plate is operatively connected to the lug plate through a hinge mechanism so as to rotate together with the lug plate and so as to vary an angle with respect to the drive shaft . Pistons which are received in cylinder bores la so as to reciprocally move are operatively connected to the swash plate , so that not only can a refrigerant be introduced and discharged in accordance with the rotation of the drive shaft , but also the stroke of the pistons can be varied by varying the angle of the swash plate . A front radial bearing B is provided on the outer periphery of a boss portion A of the lug plate and a coil spring to bias the swash plate is received in a spring receiving portion C formed in the lug plate on the rear side thereof.

Means for sealing the cylinder bore of a variable displacement compressor without using a valve plate

In the present compressor, a retainer is prevented from being deformed without impairing the sealing performance of a metal gasket provided between a covering member for closing a compression chamber of a cylinder block assembly and a discharge valve forming plate. A discharge valve forming plate is provided between a valve plate having at least one discharge port through which a fluid compressed in a compression chamber of a cylinder block assembly is discharged into a discharge chamber of a housing and the cylinder block assembly. A retainer for restricting the magnitude of opening of a discharge valve is integrally formed in a metal gasket which is provided between the discharge valve forming plate and the housing. The housing is provided with a restricting section at a position corresponding to a proximal portion of a rising portion of the retainer for restricting the proximal portion of the top surface of a rising portion.

A valve structure includes a central valve plate having a valve hole, and a flexible valve element having a root portion lying on the central valve plate and a bendable portion to open and close the valve hole. A retainer element has a retaining surface to restrict deformation of the valve element when it is bent toward the retainer element to open the valve hole. The profile is expressed in a two-dimensional coordinate system (x, y), and the freely bent shape is represented by coordinates (x, f(x)) obtained by pushing the valve element at an abscissa position corresponding to the center of the valve element. The retaining surface has a profile containing a coordinate (x&prime;, f(x&prime;)&minus;K) so that the profile is displaced toward the central valve plate with respect to a freely bent shape of the valve element.

Valve structure with configured retainer

A metallic base gasket coated with elastic membrane having an outer sealing portion for sealing an outer circumference of a refrigerant compressor and an inner sealing portion for sealing boundaries between high and low pressure regions within the compressor, the outer and inner sealing portions being formed in an elastically deformable ridge, and at least one section of the ridge of the inner sealing portion being trifurcatedly connected to a portion of the ridge of the outer sealing portion to have a geometrical arrangement in which apex lines of the connected three ridges are equiangularly spaced apart from one another with respect to the center of the trifurcated connection of the ridges. The gasket may have an extended flat or curved face portion at the trifurcatedly connected ridges to permit the apexes of the connected ridges lie in the extended flat or curved face portion.

Gasket for sealing a refrigerant compressor

A gasket having a surface thereof coated with an elastic membrane and adapted to be interposed, together with a valve plate and a discharge valve member, between a cylinder block and a housing of a refrigerant compressor under compression. The gasket includes an outer sealing portion for sealing an outer circumference of the compressor against an atmospheric environment therearound, and an inner sealing portion, connected to the outer sealing portion, for sealing between a high pressure region and a low pressure region within the compressor. Each of the outer and inner sealing portions includes in its entirety a deformable ridge which is shaped as a convexly curved projection with an apex line continuously extending along a length of the each outer and inner sealing portion. When the gasket is located in a proper position in the compressor, the apex lines of the ridges of the respective sealing portions are abutted to the front or rear housing of the compressor.

A reciprocating piston type compressor having a cylinder block unit closed, at at least one of the axial ends thereof, by a housing having a central suction chamber and a discharge chamber arranged around the suction chamber hermetically isolated by a separation wall integral with the housing, a valve plate interposed between the end of the cylinder block unit and the housing and having suction and discharge ports, suction passageways formed in the cylinder block unit to have fluid communication with the suction chamber via openings thereof, a plurality of pressing ribs axially integrally extending from an inner face of the housing toward the valve plate so as to apply a higher pressure to the valve plate at positions of the valve plate between respective two neighboring openings of the suction passageways in cooperation with the separating wall to prevent deformation of the valve plate due to the high pressure of the refrigerant in the respective cylinder bores whereby the hermetic seal between the valve plate and the end of the cylinder block is ensured.
