A sliding bearing supporting a crankshaft journal portion of an internal combustion engine includes a semi-cylindrical bearing half provided with a circumferential oil groove on its inner surface. The circumferential oil groove has an open groove end at least at one of its two circumferential ends, one end being in the rotational direction of the crankshaft. The other cylindrical bearing half has at least one circumferential local groove on its inner circumferential surface with an open groove end at a second circumferential end directed in the opposite direction to the relative rotational direction of the crankshaft. The circumferential oil groove and the local circumferential groove are in fluid communication at a region where groove bottom of the local circumferential groove deviates toward the sliding bearing from another groove bottom of the circumferential groove. An axial groove is formed along a contact interface between the first and second circumferential ends.

Sliding bearing for internal combustion engines

There is provided a slide bearing for a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, having a pair of half bearings combined with each other to form the slide bearing, and a crush relief formed in each end portion region in a circumferential direction of an inner peripheral surface of each half bearing by reducing a bearing wall thickness over an entire width in an axial direction of the half bearing, wherein a relief depth RD which is a reduction amount of the bearing wall thickness of the crush relief is maximum at each end portion in the circumferential direction of the half bearing, and gradually decreases toward a center in the circumferential direction, and the relief depth RD is maximum in a center in an axial direction of the half bearing, and gradually decreases toward both end portions in the axial direction.

Slide bearing for crankshaft of internal combustion engine

A split-type sliding bearing for a crankshaft in an internal combustion engine fits within a bearing housing having a housing half with a higher thermal expansion coefficient, and a housing half with a lower thermal expansion coefficient. The pair of semi-cylindrical bearings includes first and second semi-cylindrical bearings, the first being supported on the housing half having a higher thermal expansion coefficient, and the second being supported on the housing half having a lower thermal expansion coefficient. The first and second semi-cylindrical bearings have equal outer diameter, and the first has circumferential ends having a thickness smaller than that of the opposite circumferential ends of the second semi-cylindrical bearing.

Split-type sliding bearing for a crankshaft in internal combustion engine and split-type sliding device

A sliding bearing has a pair of semi-cylindrical bearings assembled together to form a cylindrical configuration. At least one of the semi-cylindrical bearings is provided with an inner surface circumferentially extending oil groove extending a central portion of the circumferential length of the semi-cylindrical bearing. A bottom surface of the oil groove has an ups and downs form consisting of a plurality of ridges and valleys, which sinusoidally undulate consecutively without a flat portion therebetween. The dimensional relationship between a typical ridge and the adjacent valleys is defined by the formula h&#x3c;0.15H where H indicates the groove depth and h indicates an elevation difference of the ups and downs of the bottom surface, namely a height of the ridges where h is preferably not less than 10 &#x3bc;m.
