An aspect of the present invention relates to a cylindrical secondary battery including a bottomed cylindrical battery case having an opening, an electrode group, an electrolyte solution, the electrode group and the electrolyte solution being housed in the battery case, and a sealing member blocking the opening of the battery case. The electrode group includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator placed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode and is formed by winding the positive electrode and the negative electrode with the separator therebetween. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode mix layer formed on at least one principal surface of the negative electrode current collector. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode current collector and a positive electrode mix layer formed on at least one principal surface of the positive electrode current collector. The separator includes an inner non-contact region which is located on the inner peripheral side of the electrode group and which has both surfaces that are in contact with none of the negative electrode mix layer and the positive electrode mix layer. The length of the inner non-contact region is 5% or more of the length of the separator in a winding direction of the electrode group. According to the present invention, a compact cylindrical battery with particularly excellent charge-discharge cycle characteristics in association with quick charge can be provided.

Cylindrical secondary battery

A thin battery includes a sheet-like electrode assembly; a non-aqueous electrolyte with which the electrode assembly is impregnated; and a housing in a sealed manner. The electrode assembly includes a pair of first electrodes located at an outermost side of the electrode assembly, a second electrode interposed between the pair of first electrodes, and a separator disposed between each first electrode and the second electrode. The first electrode includes a first current collector sheet and a first active material layer attached to one surface of the first current collector sheet. The second electrode includes a second current collector sheet and second active material layers attached to both surfaces of the second current collector sheet. A content x of the non-aqueous electrolyte per unit area of the first active material layer is larger than a content y of the non-aqueous electrolyte per unit area of the second active material layer.

Thin battery and battery-mounted device

A thin pouch battery, which is used as a power source of a portable electronic apparatus, a portable electronic terminal, or the like, includes protrusions, into which an electrode group is inserted, formed in both a laminate film on the upper side and a laminate film on the lower side. Then, concentrically concave and convex wave shapes (concentric crest ridges or trough furrows) are formed on the top surface of each of the protrusions such that the protrusion can extend or shrink in any direction, or the protrusion has a side surface that is gradually inclined and a wave shape is formed on the side surface of the protrusion.

Flexible battery

There is provided a pouch-type battery that includes an exterior packaging member having an accommodating space in which an electrode and an electrolyte are accommodated and which has a curved shape at least in a first direction. The exterior packaging member includes a first film member on which a cup section having the accommodating space inside is provided, a second film member disposed to face the first film member, and a sealing section around the cup section, with which the first and second film members are bonded to each other and the accommodating space is sealed. A top surface of the cup section of the first film member has a curved shape and is provided with a plurality of concave portions or convex portions, and the sealing section has a curved shape in the first direction and is configured of a flat surface on which neither concave portion nor convex portion is provided.

Pouch-type battery and method of manufacturing the same

Disclosed is a thin battery including an electrode assembly in sheet form and a housing for accommodating the electrode assembly. The electrode assembly includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte layer interposed therebetween. A lubricating material with a lubricating effect is interposed between an inner surface of the housing and the electrode assembly, and is, for example, an inert gas. The inert gas includes, for example, at least one of nitrogen and argon. It is preferable that the lubricating material is present, at least, between end surfaces of the electrode assembly on both sides in the thickness direction thereof and two main flat surfaces of the inner surface of the housing which face the end surfaces, respectively.

Thin battery and battery device

Provided is a high-capacity and highly-flexible electrode group for thin batteries, a thin battery including the electrode group, and an electronic device in which the thin battery is incorporated. The electrode group for thin batteries includes: a sheet-like first electrode, a sheet-like second electrode being laminated on each of both surfaces of the first electrode, and an electrolyte layer interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The second electrode has a polarity opposite to that of the first electrode. The second electrode has a flexural modulus lower than that of the first electrode. The thin battery includes the electrode group, and a pouch-like housing accommodating the electrode group. The electronic device includes an electronic device main body with flexibility, and the thin battery is incorporated in the electronic device main body.

Electrode group for thin batteries, thin battery, and electronic device

Disclosed is a flexible battery including a sheet-like electrode group, an electrolyte, and a housing with flexibility enclosing the electrode group and electrolyte. The housing includes a film material folded into two in which the electrode group is inserted. The film material has two facing portions respectively facing two principal surfaces of the electrode group, a fold line which is between the two facing portions and along which the film material is folded, and two bonding margins respectively set around the two facing portions. The two bonding margins are bonded to each other into a bonded portion. At least the two facing portions of the film material are formed in a corrugated shape having a plurality of ridge and valley lines arranged in parallel to each other. The ridge lines in one of the two facing portions are overlapped with the valley lines in the other. The fold line is parallel to the ridge and valley lines.

Flexible battery and method for producing the same

An all solid-state polymer battery uses: 1) a lithium based negative electrode active material including crystal grains and crystal grain boundaries, wherein at least part of the crystal grain boundaries are exposed on a surface of the lithium-based negative electrode active material, and the area of the exposed surface of the crystal grain boundaries is 0.02 to 0.5 cmper square centimeter of surface; 2) a dry polymer electrolyte including a specific ethylene glycol ether, a polymer containing electron-donating oxygen atoms in the skeleton, and a lithium salt; or 3) an amorphous lithium nitride layer formed between the negative electrode and the polymer electrolyte. This reduces the resistance at the interface between the negative electrode and the polymer electrolyte, thereby providing an all solid-state polymer battery with high capacity and excellent cycle characteristics. This also suppresses an increase in internal resistance during storage, thereby providing an all solid-state polymer battery with excellent high-rate discharge characteristics after storage.

All solid-state polymer battery

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a positive electrode and a negative electrode with an active material capable of absorbing and desorbing lithium, a separator interposed between the positive and negative electrodes, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode active material is covered by a coating having elasticity. The fully elastic coating expands and contracts following the volume change of the negative electrode active material; thus, the coating brings out its desired functions without being damaged or broken. Regardless of the degree of the volume change of the negative electrode active material, a lasting coating without damage is formed on the negative electrode active material, to improve performances of the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery.

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and method of producing coating for negative electrode active material thereof

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material that comprises a lithium-containing manganese oxide, and the negative electrode includes a negative electrode active material that comprises silicon and a transition metal element. When the battery voltage is 0 V, the positive electrode and the negative electrode have a potential of 1.8 V or higher relative to lithium metal (Li/Li). Since the deterioration of the positive and negative electrode active materials is suppressed, this non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has both high capacity and excellent deep discharge cycle life.

Non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that has a high electrical capacity and exhibits excellent cycle characteristics even when the battery is rapidly charged and discharged at a large current includes: a positive electrode capable of reversibly absorbing and desorbing Li; a negative electrode; and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode includes an alloying material that is capable of electrochemically absorbing and desorbing Li, and includes an A phase composed mainly of Si and a B phase including an intermetallic compound of at least one transition metal element and Si. The transition metal element is selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Ni, Cu, and Fe. At least one of the A phase and the B phase includes a microcrystalline or amorphous region. The weight percent of the A phase relative to the total weight of the A phase and the B phase is greater than 40% and not greater than 95%.
