A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of display panels which are disposed so as to overlap each other, each of the display panels displaying an image. The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate; a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate in a first direction; a first liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a third substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate in a second direction that is an opposite direction to the first direction; and a second liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the third substrate.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device in which a plurality of display panels are disposed so as to overlap each other and which displays an image on each of the plurality of display panels. The liquid crystal display device includes a first display panel; and a second display panel disposed so as to overlap the first display panel. The second display panel includes a first substrate on which a source line, a gate line, a thin film transistor, and an organic insulator are formed, a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first spacer is formed in the first substrate to hold a distance between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first spacer and the organic insulator are made of a positive photosensitive resin.

Liquid crystal display device and the method of manufacturing the same

In a liquid crystal display device, a display panel includes a display region in which an image is to foe displayed, and a non-display region formed into a frame shape surrounding the display region. The non-display region includes a first region in which the gate driver is arranged, and a second region in which the source driver is arranged. The non-display region has a non-light transmitting layer formed therein, which is configured to restrict transmission of light. The non-light transmitting layer has a first slit formed therein, which extends through the first region and the second region and passes through the non-light transmitting layer.

In a liquid crystal display device, a display panel includes a display region in which an image is to be displayed, and a non-display region formed into a frame shape surrounding the display region. A plasma display panel has a first substrate, plural pairs of display electrodes, a second substrate, and plural data electrodes. Each pair of the display electrodes is made up of a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode which are arranged parallel to each other on the first substrate. The second substrate is disposed opposite to the first substrate. A discharge space is formed between the first substrate and second substrate. The data electrodes are arranged in a direction perpendicular to the display electrodes on the second substrate. The data electrode is wider in peripheral portion of the second substrate than in a central portion of the second substrate.

Plasma display panel

An alignment method is disclosed, in which a distance between a substrate and a photomask is set at a predetermined exposure gap. The photomask is rectangular, and includes a first side, and a second side opposite to the first side. A distance between a midpoint of the first side and the substrate is matched with the exposure gap. The photomask is rotated about, as an axis, a line that connects the midpoint of the first side and a midpoint of the second side to each other, whereby distances between both ends of the first side and the substrate are individually matched with the exposure gap. The photomask is rotated about the first side taken as an axis, whereby a distance between the midpoint of the second side and the substrate is matched with the exposure gap.

Alignment method and method for manufacturing flat panel display

A plurality of subfields of a field period includes a subfield for performing an every-cell initialization causing an initial discharge in every discharge cell in an initialization period, and includes a subfield for performing a selective initialization causing the initial discharge in a predetermined discharge cell in the initialization period. In a low-luminance subfield, the every-cell initialization is performed, and a low-luminance subfield is subsequently located (in the field period) to the subfield for the every-cell initialization. In a sustain period of the subfield for performing the every-cell initialization or a sustain period of the low-luminance subfield, a width of a first sustain pulse is set wider than a width of a second sustain pulse, and the width of the second sustain pulse is set wider than the width of a third sustain pulse and subsequent others.

Barrier ribs are disposed on a back substrate so as to separate main discharge cells and priming discharge cells, and the top parts of the barrier ribs are formed so as to abut on a front substrate. In a driving method, in an odd-numbered line writing time period, scan pulse Va is sequentially applied to odd-numbered scan electrode SCand voltage Vq is applied to even-numbered sustain electrode SUto cause priming discharge between even-numbered sustain electrode SUand odd-numbered scan electrode SC. In an even-numbered line writing time period, scan pulse Va is sequentially applied to even-numbered scan electrode SCand voltage Vq is applied to odd-numbered sustain electrode SUto cause priming discharge between odd-numbered sustain electrode SUand even-numbered scan electrode SC.

Plasma display panel drive method

Barrier ribs are disposed on a back substrate so as to separate main discharge cells formed of a display electrode pair and a data electrode which face each other and priming discharge cells formed of a clearance between two adjacent scan electrodes. The top parts of the barrier ribs are formed so as to abut on a front substrate. In a driving method, in an odd-numbered line writing time period, scan pulse Va is sequentially applied to odd-numbered scan electrode SCand voltage Vq is applied to even-numbered scan electrode SCto cause priming discharge between scan electrode SCand odd-numbered scan electrode SC. In an even-numbered line writing time period, scan pulse Va is sequentially applied to even-numbered scan electrode SCand voltage Vq is applied to odd-numbered scan electrode SCto cause priming discharge between scan electrode SCand even-numbered scan electrode SC.

A plasma display panel has address properties stabilized. A priming discharge is performed between auxiliary electrodes (), which are formed on a front substrate () and coupled with scan electrodes () and priming electrodes () formed on a back substrate (). Furthermore, a material layer () containing at least one of alkali metal oxide, alkaline earth metal oxide and fluoride is provided on regions corresponding to priming discharge spaces () (gap parts) on the back substrate (). As a result, the priming discharge has a wider margin, and a supply of priming particles to the discharge cells is stabilized, whereby a discharge delay during the addressing is reduced, and the address properties are stabilized.

AC surface discharge type plasma display panel

The invention is a plasma display panel capable of stabilizing the addressing characteristics. A barrier rib is formed by longitudinal barrier ribs portion orthogonal to the scan electrodes and sustain electrodes on the front substrate, and side barrier rib portions crossing with these longitudinal barrier rib portions, to form cell spaces and form interstice portions between the cell spaces, and priming electrodes for producing a discharge between the front substrate and the rear substrate within the interstice portions are formed. Stable priming discharge is produced with certainty by the scan electrode and the priming electrode, hence decreasing the discharge time lag at the time of addressing and stabilizing the addressing characteristics.
