A method for manufacturing a battery assembly provided by the present invention includes a step of measuring a stacking direction length of a stacked body including a predetermined number of unit cells () constituting a battery assembly () and arranged in the stacking direction; and a step of bundling a body () to be bundled that includes the stacked body. Here, the body to be bundled is provided with length adjusting means () for converging a spread in stacking direction length. The bundling step is implemented by setting the length adjusting means according to the stacking direction length of the stacked body, so that a length of the battery assembly in the stacking direction is a stipulated length (LT) and a bundling pressure of the body to be bundled is a stipulated pressure.

An electric power storage device includes a case body with an opening, the opening formed at an upper portion of the case body; an electrode body housed in the case body; a tab portion; and a current collecting terminal. The tab portion protrudes from part of the electrode body toward the opening of the case body. The tab portion has a side surface not facing the electrode body. The current collecting terminal is welded to the side surface of the tab portion.

Electric power storage device and method of manufacturing the same

Provided is a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery that can be produced with high yield, through suppression of breakage of electrode collector portions during production and through suppression of damage to an electrode body during welding. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery disclosed herein is provided with: an electrode body in which a plurality of electrodes are stacked; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. Each electrode has a collector and an active material layer formed on the collector. Each electrode has a collector portion being an active material layer non-forming portion. The collector portions of the electrodes are grouped and are clamped, in the stacking direction of the electrode body, by two or more members of an electrode collector terminal that is made up of the members. The collector portions of the electrodes and the members that clamp the collector portions are welded.

Nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery and production method thereof

A battery pack is a battery pack that is configured by arranging plural chargeable-dischargeable single cells in a specified direction. Each of the plural single cells includes: an electrode body including a positive electrode and a negative electrode; and a box-shaped battery case accommodating the electrode body and an electrolyte. The two adjacent single cells in the battery pack are provided with gas discharge valves in mutually opposing surfaces of the battery cases, each of the gas discharge valves discharging gas that is produced in the battery case. In the battery cases provided in the two adjacent single cells, the gas discharge valves that are provided in the mutually opposing surfaces are disposed at positions that do not overlap each other when seen in an arrangement direction of the single cells.

Battery pack

A gas release valve has a valve body that is made from rubber or resin and closes a communication passage providing communication between an outside and an inside of a battery case. In an inner communication passage, which is positioned on an inner side of the battery case with respect to a valve body in the communication passage, a moisture absorber is arranged in a state where gas in the battery case is able to pass inside the inner communication passage.

Nonaqueous secondary battery

A method for manufacturing a bottomed cuboid battery container includes: forming a first member by folding one piece of a first flat sheet, the first member being constructed of a quadrilateral bottom surface and first paired side surfaces, the first paired side surfaces continuing from the bottom surface and being oppose each other; and forming the bottomed cuboid battery container by welding each of a second flat sheet and a third flat sheet to the first member such that the second flat sheet and the third flat sheet oppose each other and constitute second paired side surfaces. The second flat sheet and the first member are welded from one direction. The third flat sheet and the first member are welded from one direction.

Method for manufacturing bottomed cuboid battery container

A hermetically sealed battery is provided with a sealing member for air-tightly sealing the through-hole of a battery case from the outside. The sealing member has: a covering member secured to the battery case from the outside; an insertion portion inserted into the through-hole; an annular pressure contact portion in air-tight pressure contact with the hole surrounding portion of the battery case; and a connecting portion disposed between the insertion portion and the annular pressure contact portion so as to be integral with the insertion portion and the annular pressure contact portion. The connecting portion is provided with an annular groove surrounding the insertion portion.

Hermetically sealed battery

A sealed battery is provided in which a case is partially provided with a safety valve that is provided with a thin portion, which is formed thinner than the peripheral portion of the safety valve. A portion of the safety valve surrounding the thin portion is provided with a slit for preventing heat conduction from the other portions of the case to the thin portion, said slit being formed so as to surround the thin portion.

Sealed battery having a safety valve

A battery includes a winding electrode body, a battery case provided with a liquid inlet and positive and negative terminal members. The positive terminal member has a junction part compressed in a direction orthogonal to a winding axis direction. The negative terminal member has a junction part compressed in the direction orthogonal to the winding axis direction. The liquid inlet is positioned leaning to either the positive terminal junction part or the negative terminal junction part. In the winding electrode body, a separation distance from the junction part further away from the liquid inlet to the end lying on the relevant junction side in the winding axis direction is greater than a separation distance from the junction part closer to the liquid inlet to the end on the relevant junction side in the winding axis direction.

Battery comprising a liquid inlet for electrolyte injection

A current collector electrically connected to a first electrode plate or a second electrode plate includes a tubular current collection section. An external terminal electrically connected to the current collector includes a tubular terminal section into which the current collection section is inserted. The current collection section has, before being inserted into the terminal section, a greater outer diameter than the inner diameter of the terminal section. In the insertion process, the diameter of the current collection section is reduced or the diameter of the terminal section is expanded so that the outer diameter of the current collection section is equal to or smaller than the inner diameter of the terminal section, and then the current collection section is inserted into the terminal section. After that, the outer peripheral surface of the current collection section and the inner peripheral surface of the terminal section are made to be in close contact with each other by the restoring force of the current collection section having the reduced diameter or of the terminal section having the expanded diameter, and as a result, the current collection section is fixed to the terminal section.

Method for manufacturing battery

A battery cell includes a battery housing case formed with a through hole communicating with an interior space, a hollow rivet, and a seal rubber. The hollow rivet has a seal surface annularly extending outside the battery housing case, and a hollow portion formed with an exhaust port continuous to the inner edge of the seal surface and positioned at the through hole to allow gas in the interior space to flow out through the exhaust port. The seal rubber has a contact unit extending annularly facing the seal surface to press the seal surface and is provided so as to close the exhaust port. The contact unit is formed to project toward the seal surface so as to contact the seal surface at a position away from the inner edge of the seal surface. Such an arrangement prevents an electrolyte leakage over a long period of time.

A safety valve () formed in a portion of a case of a sealed battery includes a fracture groove portion () formed in a thin portion (). The thin portion () is formed in a horizontally long shape or a vertically long shape that has a curved outer edge portion () in which at least a portion of the outer edge portion () is curved. This thin portion () has a center straight groove portion () that extends in the longer direction of the thin portion in the center portion of the thin portion, and a pair of side groove portions () that are formed in both side in the longer direction of the center straight groove portion () and connected to longer direction end portions (A,B,A,B,A,B) of the center straight groove portion. Here, a portion of the side groove portion () is formed curved following the curved outer edge portion ().

A battery includes a cylindrical shaft core, and a wound electrode formed by winding a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator around the outer periphery of the core. The wound electrode has a first wound portion formed by winding a first active material uncoated portion of the first electrode plate, a second wound portion formed by winding a second active material uncoated portion of the second electrode plate, and a power generating portion positioned between the first and second wound portions and formed by winding the first and second electrode plates, and the separator. The shaft core has a current collector portion composed of a metal, which is comprised of a joint portion connected to the first or second wound portion. The portions of the first or second wound portion, which are positioned on the outside of the shaft core in the radial direction with respect to the joint portion, are overlapped and welded to the joint portion.
