An operating device of a straddle type vehicle has a controller for selecting a plurality of function menus of components mounted on the straddle type vehicle. Controller supporting portions support the controller, and are disposed in the front direction of a switch box. The controller has a controller operating portion which a rider can operate. The controller operating portion is positioned in the front direction of a grip portion.

In a switch case of a handle switch of a vehicle, first to fourth operation elements are disposed on a case below an axial line of a handlebar of the vehicle. The first to third operation elements overlap with each other, when viewed in rear view, and are each disposed in such an accessible range as to be operable by a rider with a thumb in a state in which the rider puts a left hand on a handle grip attached to the handlebar. A windshield control device is configured such that a position and/or an angle in a height direction of a windshield attached to a front part of a vehicle is optionally adjusted by an actuator. The windshield control device includes receiving means that receives a signal related to a head set having a microphone used by a rider, and control means that drives and controls the windshield. The control means upwardly moves the windshield according to the signal received by the receiving means. The signal is a tone signal input from the microphone or a manipulated signal of an active switch for operating the head set or the receiving means. The windshield is upwardly moved according to magnitude of the tone signal input from the microphone after the receiving means is operated.

A photovoltaic power generation system in which an electricity generated by solar cells and a remaining battery level can be checked at once, thus enabling the photovoltaic power generation system to be efficiently operated. The photovoltaic power generation system is provided to charge a battery of a vehicle and is equipped with solar cells for feeding an electromotive force to the battery. The photovoltaic power generation system includes LEDs to make the remaining battery level and the electricity generated by the solar cells visible. Magnetostrictive torque sensor and electrically powered steering apparatus using same

A magnetostrictive torque sensor comprising a first magnetostrictive film, a second magnetostrictive film, and a third magnetostrictive film formed over the entire circumferential periphery of a surface of a rotating shaft. A first sensor coil, a second sensor coil, and a third sensor coil for sensing changes in impedance are provided for the first, second, and third magnetostrictive films, respectively. Signals according to the changes in impedance outputted from the first through third sensor coils are inputted to a torque calculating unit. The torque calculating unit calculates the torque applied to the rotating shaft on the basis of the output signal from the first sensor coil and the output signal from the second sensor coil. Furthermore, the output signals from the first through third sensor coils are compared, and failures in the first magnetostrictive film or the second magnetostrictive film are detected by a failure detector.
