An engine operated working machine includes an engine and a working machine to be driven by the engine surrounded by a soundproof case. An exhaust compartment housing a muffler is formed in the soundproof case. An exhaust pipe connected with the muffler is bent in a direction so as to direct exhaust gas discharged therefrom away from an exhaust air opening of the exhaust compartment and has an opening positioned apart from the exhaust air opening. Cooling air forced into the exhaust compartment flows around the muffler and the exhaust pipe to cool them. Exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipe into the exhaust compartment is mixed with the cooling air to change a discharging direction thereof and is then discharged outside of the soundproof case through the exhaust air opening.

Engine operated working machine

An air-cooled engine includes a cooling fan mounted at one end of a crankshaft supported in a crankcase, and a shroud for guiding cooling air flow produced by the cooling fan encloses an outer periphery of a cylinder block. The engine further includes an auxiliary cooling fan mounted at the other end of the crankshaft, together with an auxiliary shroud for guiding cooling air flow produced by the auxiliary cooling fan to an outer periphery of the crankcase, so that the absorption of heat from the cylinder block by the crankcase can be effectively increased. Thus, it is possible to enhance the effect of cooling of an air-cooled engine without increasing the size of the cooling fan and the shroud thereof.

Air-cooled engine

An oil reservoir chamber 22 in an engine E is formed into a tubular shape having annular corner portions 22a and 22b at opposite ends, and an oil slinger 25 is secured to a crankshaft 13 and has two splashing blades 25a and 25b with their tip ends being in proximity to the corner portions 22a and 22b, so that a lubricating oil in the oil reservoir chamber 22 is splashed by at least one of the two splashing blades 25a and 25b during rotation of the oil slinger 25 with any operative position of the engine E. Thus, a lubricating oil mist can be produced with any operative position of the engine E by the oil slinger of a simple structure including the two blades.

An engine has a cylinder block having a vertical array of cylinders, a crankcase joined to one side of the cylinder block, a cylinder head joined to an opposite side of the cylinder block, pistons reciprocally movable in the cylinders, a crankshaft vertically extending through the engine block and rotatably supported in the cylinder block and the crankcase, the crankcase having couterweights, connecting rods interconnecting the pistons and the crankshaft, and a balancer mechanism coacting with the crankshaft. The balancer mechanism is disposed upwardly of the cylinder block and accommodated in a balancer housing projecting from upper surfaces of the cylinder block and the crankcase. The balancer mechanism comprises a driver gear mounted on the crankshaft, first and second balancer shafts extending parallel to the crankshaft, and first and second balancers mounted respectively on the first and second balancer shafts and operatively coupled to the driver gear. The first and second balancers are disposed on diametrically opposite sides of the driver gear and arranged such that a line interconnecting the centers of the first and second balancers is inclined with respect to an axis of the cylinder block.
