To display a horizontally oblong movie on a vertically oblong display portion, the movie may be displayed with being rotated 90 degrees by a CPU while the display portion is held in an orientation where the display portion is wider than tall. Since this arrangement puts a heavy load on the CPU, the mobile terminal according to the invention is adapted to implement the movie rotation by processings in the display portion. More specifically, an image memory in the display portion has a foursquare figure each side of which has a length the same as a longer side of a display panel of the display portion. A picture data is written on the memory in the same direction as a direction in which the picture data is read out to be transferred to the panel by the driver portion, and the driver portion rotates the picture data when transferring it.

Mobile terminal

A portable mobile unit for alerting on incoming of a signal by a ringing sound, comprises: a ringing sound generator for generating the ringing sound in a plurality of patterns; and a controller for controlling operations of the portable mobile unit, wherein the controller select one pattern from the a plurality of patterns based on conditions which are set up in advance, when the signal comes in, so as to control the ringing sound generator to generate the ringing sound for alerting a user of the incoming call, thereby providing the portable mobile unit being superior in the usability, with which various conditions can be grasped by means of change in the ringing sound when the telephone call comes in, while achieving the discrimination of the ringing sound for alerting of the incoming call.

A sound decompressing apparatus which achieves special reproducing, also known as trick play, two examples of which are forward search reproducing and reverse search reproducing, by selecting and decompressing frames containing sound data at fixed or predetermined intervals. A schedule management system which can display a schedule on a screen and enables the user to enter schedule topics promptly and accurately without performing complicated operation is provided. An external voice is input through a microphone or a network control unit and is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter and a coder. An identifier related to the digital signal is generated. The identifier is displayed on a schedule on a display unit. The digital signal is stored in a memory in relation to the identifier. A user specifies the displayed identifier through an operation section, whereby the digital signal related to the identifier is extracted from the memory by a CPU, the extracted digital signal is converted into an analog signal by a D/A converter, and the analog signal is output as a voice through a loudspeaker or the network control unit to the outside. Like a voice, an image can also be handled.

A transmitting management apparatus transmits information having an identification number corresponding to a portable information terminal to which information is to be delivered and/or having a sorting code identifying the information. The portable information terminal receiving the transmitted information selectively acquires and stores proper information by referring to the identification number and/or the sorting code of the received information, and displays the proper information on a display means.

An echo canceller and a communication apparatus employing the same, are capable of stably reproducing sounds other than a received sound during a speech through a telephone and the received sound is heard by the other party to the speech. The echo canceller includes first and second input terminals and first and second output terminals. An echo path between the first output terminal and the second input signal terminal is adaptively estimated. A signal component inputted through the echo path is cancelled from a signal inputted to the second input terminal. The canceller further includes a signal mixing means for mixing a plurality of signals inputted thereto.
