Disclosed is a digital broadcast receiver which includes a TS processing unit. The TS processing unit comprises reference packet detection units (), that detect timing information of two sets of received TS packet data, a delay adjustment unit () that aligns the processing timings of both sets of TS packet data by delaying one of the two sets of TS packet data based on the detected timing information, and a selection unit () that selects by packet one of the two sets of TS packet data for output.

An inter-carrier interface removal device can improve estimation accuracy of inter-carrier interference caused by Doppler shift in a received multi-carrier signal moving at a high speed, and a reception characteristic of the multi-carrier signal after removing the inter-carrier interference. The inter-carrier interference removal device includes a channel estimation unit estimating a channel frequency characteristic according to a carrier signal, an equalization unit equalizing the carrier signal with the channel frequency characteristic and outputs tentative carrier data, a reliability value calculation unit calculating a reliability value according to the channel frequency characteristic, a weighting unit weighting the tentative carrier data with the reliability value, an ICI component estimation unit estimating an ICI component according to the weighted tentative carrier data and the estimated channel frequency characteristic, and an ICI removal calculation unit removing the ICI component from the carrier signal.

A disturbing signal detecting device that detects a disturbing signal and improves error correcting capability for a signal including an interference, and an OFDM receiver that improves reception power for a signal including an interference are disclosed. The disturbing signal detecting device and OFDM receiver perform an IFFT computation for a transmission line characteristic calculated from pilot signals by an IFFT computing unit. A threshold processing part substitutes '0' for a value of a time-base signal obtained as an IFFT computation result, if the value exceeds a threshold. An FFT computing unit performs an FFT computation for a signal processed by the threshold processing part, to convert the signal to a frequency-base signal. An interference detector interpolates timewise and frequencywise the frequency-base signal obtained from the FFT computing unit, to calculate a disturbing signal added to the OFDM signal band.

In a device equipped with an audio output, a range of the audio output level in regular use is set. When an attempt is made to change the setting to a volume level exceeding the range of the audio output level having been set, a request is made for an acknowledgement that the operation is appropriate, and only if a reply is received within a given time, is the volume setting changed. Such a method prevents the audio output from a television set or audio equipment to be increased to a volume level higher than necessary due to an operating error in a volume setting operation.

With such a makeup, a receiving device is provided that is resistant to a noise signal to ensure a favorable reception state.
