A tape cassette that includes a box-shaped cassette case whose outline being defined by a bottom wall, a top wall, and a side wall and including a plurality of corner portions, at least one tape contained within a tape containment area defined within the outline, a pair of cavities extending from the bottom wall and being provided between the tape containment area and the outline at opposite ends of a diagonal line connecting one of the corner portions to another of the corner portions, and a side face indicator portion provided in the side wall, indicating a type of the tape, and including a plurality of indicator portions disposed in a pattern in accordance with the type of the tape, each of the indicator portions being one of a switch hole and a surface portion.

A tape cassette includes a first guide member provided between a feed portion and a discharge slot, and positioned on or immediately before the discharge slot, on an upstream side in a travel direction of a ink ribbon, wherein the first guide member bends and guides travel of the ink ribbon in the predetermined direction while making contact with a reverse side of a inked surface of the ink ribbon and a second guide member provided between the feed portion and the discharge slot, and positioned on an upstream side in the travel direction of the ink ribbon with respect to the first guide member, wherein the second guide member bends and guides the travel of the ink ribbon in the predetermined direction while making contact with the reverse side of the inked surface of the ink ribbon.

A printing apparatus includes a transfer mechanism that transfers a print medium, a printing device that prints on the print medium, a stationary blade that is provided on a downstream side in a transfer direction of the print medium further than the printing device to cut the print medium, a movable blade that is provided on a downstream side in a transfer direction of the print medium further than the printing device and that cut the print medium, and a step portion that is provided on a reverse face of the downstream blade which is located on downstream side in transferring of the print medium, the reverse face being reverse of a slide face of the downstream blade sliding on the upstream blade which is located on upstream side in transferring of the print medium, and that projects along a thickness direction of the downstream blade.
