A display device with a built-in touch panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, plural pixel electrodes provided between the first substrate and the second substrate, plural common electrodes provided between the first substrate and the second substrate, and plural detection electrodes provided on the first substrate. An image is displayed by, light control using an electric field generated between the plural pixel electrodes and the plural common electrodes. The presence or absence of touch is detected by a difference in capacitance due to the presence or absence of a material interrupting the electric field generated between one of the detection electrodes and one of the common electrodes. Each of the detection electrodes includes a through hole.

Display device with a built-in touch panel

A technique capable of reducing the number of leading lines and making the area of a frame region smaller is provided. A display device includes an in-cell touch panel in which a pair of transparent substrates is arranged so as to oppose each other, a plurality of scanning electrodes are disposed on an opposing surface of one of the transparent substrates, and detection electrodes that intersect with the scanning electrodes are arranged on an opposing surface of the other transparent substrate. The display device further includes at least one first leading lines electrically connected the scanning electrodes and configured to supply a scanning signal to the scanning electrodes, and at least one second leading lines electrically connected to the detection electrodes and configured to output a signal detected by the detection electrodes. In the display device, each of the first leading lines is connected to at least two of the scanning electrodes having different widths.

Touch panel having scan electrodes with different widths

A display device with a built-in touch panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, plural pixel electrodes provided between the first substrate and the second substrate, plural common electrodes provided between the first substrate and the second substrate, and plural detection electrodes provided on the first substrate. An image is displayed by light control using an electric field generated between the plural pixel electrodes and the plural common electrodes. A display device with touch panel includes a display panel having a display area in which pixels are arranged in a matrix form and displaying an image by outputting lights corresponding to gray levels with respect to each pixel, and a touch panel electrode as one electrode of a set of electrodes forming capacitance for sensing contact in an area superimposed on the display area, extending in one direction, including a plurality of linear transparent conducting materials arranged in parallel, and having a periodically changing line width.

Disclosed is a touch panel-equipped display device capable of suppressing an increase in the number of wires and improving detection resolution. A touch panel-equipped display device includes scanning lines and detection lines. The detection lines include first main detection lines, second main detection lines, first one-side sub-detection lines, and first other-side sub-detection lines. Each of the second main detection lines is arranged between adjacent first main detection lines. The first one-side sub-detection lines are connected together, and each first one-side sub-detection lines is arranged between the corresponding first main detection line and the second main detection line adjacent to one side of the corresponding first main detection line. The first other-side sub-detection lines are connected together, and each first other-side sub-detection lines is arranged between the corresponding first main detection lines and the second main detection line adjacent to the other side of the corresponding first main detection line.

Display device for improving detection resolution

In a liquid crystal display which includes a liquid crystal layer between a TFT substrate and a counter substrate, a gate electrode, a gate insulator and a semiconductor layer are laminated. A pixel electrode is formed on the gate insulator and metal source and drain electrodes are formed on the semiconductor layer and gate insulator. At least upper surfaces of the source and drain electrode contain Mo. The source is directly laminated on a portion of the pixel electrode, which portion is disposed on the gate insulating film.

Liquid crystal display device

In a liquid crystal display which includes a liquid crystal layer between a TFT substrate and a counter substrate, a gate electrode, a gate insulator and a semiconductor layer are laminated. A pixel electrode is formed on the gate insulator and metal source and drain electrodes are formed on the semiconductor layer and gate insulator. At least upper surfaces of the source and drain electrode contain Mo. One of the source and drain electrodes is directly laminated on a portion of the pixel electrode, which portion is disposed on the gate insulating film.

In a liquid crystal display device of IPS mode with a smaller number of layers, a gate electrode is formed on a TFT substrate. A gate insulating film is formed to cover the gate electrode, on which a semiconductor layer is formed. A drain electrode and a source electrode are placed on the semiconductor layer. A planar pixel electrode is formed from ITO on the gate insulating film prior to the formation of the drain electrode, source electrode, image signal line, and the like. This process is performed to prevent the image signal line, the drain electrode, the source electrode, and the like, from being consumed by the cell reaction through a developer during the patterning of the ITO when a pin hole is present in the ITO, in order not to cause disconnection. As a result, it is possible to improve the production yield and achieve high reliability.
