A display device includes: a display panel with pixels; a dimming panel with dimming pixels; and a light source. When a pixel is controlled to be lit in white and a predetermined condition is satisfied, a blurring region is formed, and light from the light source is transmitted through the blurring region and the pixel. When a pixel is controlled to be lit up in white and the predetermined condition is not satisfied, the blurring region is not formed, the dimming pixel overlapping the pixel on a straight line along a direction in which the display panel faces the dimming panel is controlled to transmit light, and light from the light source is transmitted through the dimming pixel and the pixel. The predetermined condition is satisfied when the pixel controlled to be lit in white is at a predetermined distance or farther from an outer edge of a display area.

According to one embodiment, a display device comprises a display panel, first and second driver chips. The display panel includes first and second edge portions, a display area between the first and second edge portions in a first direction, first signal lines extending to the display area, and second signal lines extending to the display area. The first driver chip is connected to the first edge portion to supply video signals to the first signal lines. The second driver chip is connected to the second edge portion to supply video signals to the second signal lines. Number N of the first signal lines and number M of the second signal lines are alternately arranged in a second direction.

According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal device includes a first liquid crystal cell, a second liquid crystal cell, a first flexible wiring board including a first terminal and connected to the first liquid crystal cell, a second flexible wiring board including a second terminal and connected to the second liquid crystal cell, and a circuit board including a first connector connected to the first terminal and a second connector connected to the second terminal. The first flexible wiring board and the second flexible wiring board are arranged without overlapping each other in plan view. A first distance from an edge of the circuit board to the first connector and a second distance from the edge to the second connector are different from each other.

Liquid crystal device

A liquid crystal display device includes image signal lines, a plurality of pixel circuits that is connected to the image signal lines, an image signal line driving circuit that is connected to the image signal lines, and sequentially outputs an image signal, a gate line driving circuit that supplies a scanning signal. A period in which the gate line driving circuit supplies a scanning signal to any pixel circuit is a first period in which the image signal is output to the pixel circuit when a polarity of the image signal in a previous frame is different from the polarity in the present frame, and the first period and a second period in which the image signal of a different polarity is supplied before the first period when the polarity in the previous frame is identical with the polarity in the present frame.

Liquid crystal display device

Each of a plurality of timing controllers has a synchronization reference signal output terminal from which a synchronization reference signal is output and a synchronization reference signal input terminal to which the synchronization reference signal is input. A master timing controller outputs a predetermined signal of display signals which are input from an external device, from the synchronization reference signal output terminal of the master timing controller as the synchronization reference signal, and the synchronization reference signal is input to the synchronization reference signal input terminals of the master timing controller and a slave timing controller. Accordingly, a luminance difference can be prevented from occurring between divided regions of a display panel due to asynchronization between display signals input to respective timing controllers in a display device in which a plurality of timing controllers are used and the display panel is divided into a plurality of regions.

In a liquid crystal display device that performs two-line inversion driving, a difference of a write period of a substantial video signal between a pair of pixel rows scanned with the same polarity is compensated. An input signal pre-processing circuitreceives display data DATA and an original data enable signal DTMG, generates and inputs a data enable signal DTMG_R and display data DATA_R to a driver control signal generation block. DTMG_R is reduced in the active period, and an interval of the active period between a (2n&#x2212;1)-th row and a 2n-th row is set to be larger than an interval of the active period between the 2n-th row and a (2n+1)-th row. The input signal pre-processing circuitreads out DATA of each row from a buffer as DATA_R in an active period of DTMG_R.

A liquid crystal display device and driving method therefor are disclosed. The device includes a plurality of signal lines that apply different gray scale voltages to each of the pixels. A driving circuit is provided to generate the gray scale voltages to be applied to the pixels. In operation, the driving circuit applies the first gray scale voltage at intervals of the horizontal scanning time within a display period. The second gray scale voltage is output by a number of times that is not smaller than twice and not greater than (M-N) times at intervals of the horizontal scanning time from the beginning of the vertical retrace interval. The second gray scale voltage is then stopped until completion of the vertical retrace interval.

Liquid crystal display device and driving method of the same

A liquid crystal display device and driving method therefor are disclosed. The device includes a plurality of signal lines that apply different gray scale voltages to each of the pixels. A driving circuit is provided to generate the gray scale voltages to be applied to the pixels. In operation, the driving circuit applies the first gray scale voltage at intervals of the horizontal scanning time within a display period. The second gray scale voltage is output by a number of times that is not smaller than twice and not greater than (M&#x2212;N) times at intervals of the horizontal scanning time from the beginning of the vertical retrace interval. The second gray scale voltage is then stopped until completion of the vertical retrace interval.

A driving method of a liquid crystal display device, even when a vertical retrace interval varies, can prevent contention between a driving signal transmitted to a driving circuit within the vertical retrace interval and a driving signal transmitted to the driving circuit within the display period of the next frame after the vertical retrace interval. The device has pixels, signal lines, and a driving circuit outputting the gray scale voltage to the signal lines. In the method, letting M be a value obtained by dividing the vertical retrace interval by a regular horizontal scanning time and rounding up a fraction after the decimal point, and letting N be an integer of 1 or more, the gray scale voltage is outputted from the driving circuit to the signal lines by a number of times between twice and (M&#x2212;N) times within the vertical retrace interval.

In a display device comprising a display panel driven in an active matrix scheme, a display control circuit generating image data and clock, and at least one source driver acquiring the image data in response to the clock and supplying image signals based on the image data to the display panel, the present invention generates dummy data in stead of the image data, makes the at least one source driver acquire the dummy data, reads out the dummy data acquired by the at least one source driver, compares the dummy data read out from the at least one source driver with the dummy data in an original state, and adjust delay time of the clock to the image signal in accordance with the comparison result, so as to reduce flicker in an image displayed by the display device due to timing difference between the image data and the clock.
