An image reading device includes a scanner housing, a pair of hinge mechanisms, and a document conveyance device. The scanner housing includes an engaged portion for positioning provided at a portion of a top surface of the scanner housing located outside of an original glass plate mounted in the top surface of the scanner housing. The document conveyance device includes an engaging portion for positioning engageable with the engaged portion when in the closed position, and is positioned in a plane along a top surface of the original glass plate by engagement of the engaging portion with the engaged portion. In positioning the document conveyance device, the document conveyance device is fixed to the pair of hinge mechanisms to allow the document conveyance device to be adjusted in position in the plane.

An image reading device includes a housing, a reading unit, a flat cable, and a support member. The reading unit is movably provided in the housing and configured to reciprocally move from a start position to an end position in a reading range. One end of the flat cable is coupled with the reading unit and a predetermined portion thereof on the other end side is fixed to the housing. The flat cable is stored in a bent state in the housing. The support member is provided in the reading unit and configured to support the flat cable and displace, in response to a movement position of the reading unit, a support point of the flat cable in an up-down direction with respect to a coupling portion coupling the one end of the flat cable with the reading unit.

An image processing device according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a moving body, a housing, a support portion, and a first contact portion. The moving body is composed of a resin member and has a surface on which a holding plate which holds an electric component used for image processing is mounted. The housing includes a pair of side walls between which the moving body is housed therein. The support portion is provided to the housing and configured to support the moving body such that the moving body is movable in a predetermined moving direction. The first contact portion is provided to the moving body, and is configured to be contactable with a contacted portion within the housing prior to the holding plate when the moving body reaches a contact position where it is possible to contact with the contacted portion.

A document conveying portion is configured to convey a document sheet along a conveyance path extending sequentially through a turn-around portion at which a conveyance direction is reversed and a predetermined reading position. A reading unit is movable in a predetermined moving direction below the document conveying portion and a document table and includes a unit housing in which a light source, an optical element, and an image sensor are mounted. The reading unit is formed such that, between the turn-around portion and a first end portion of the document conveying portion which is close to the turn-around portion in the moving direction, a second end portion of the unit housing at a side of the first end portion in the moving direction is located in a state where light is applied from the light source to the reading position.

A development device includes an imaging lens and light shielding walls. The imaging lens includes a body part having a constant diameter and both end parts arranged at both ends in an optical axial direction having diameters larger than the body part to capture a reflected light from a document onto an imaging part. The light shielding walls has a space with an interval larger than the diameter of the body part and smaller than the diameters of the both end parts, allowing the body part of the imaging lens to be arranged in the space, and shielding a light in the optical axial direction.

An image reading device has a light emitting unit. The light emitting unit has a light emitting portion, a light guiding member, a holding member and a case member. The light guiding member is disposed along a main scanning direction, and an end portion of the light guiding member faces the light emitting portion. The claw portion presses the guide-rail engaging portion against the guide rail by partially deforming the driving member to produce a tensile force in the driving member and causing the tensile force to act on the first end portion of the carriage, and produces such a rotation moment for biasing the first end portion of the carriage in a first direction parallel with a sub scanning direction and, on the other hand, biasing the second end portion of the carriage in a second direction opposite to the first direction and parallel with the sub scanning direction.

An unit is provided with a friction member which is disposed at a position that is on a downstream side of a drive roller driving a belt and is on an immediate upstream side of a position sensor. The friction member wipes off contaminants adhering to a rear surface of the running belt, thereby constantly keeping the rear surface clean, and therefore, no toner scatters to the sensor. Further, the friction member gives a moderate tension to the belt, so that the posture of the belt is stabilized at a position where it passes the sensor, resulting in enhanced detection accuracy of the sensor.

Image reading apparatus

An image forming apparatus includes photoconductive drums aligned side by side for toner images in colors to be formed on peripheral surfaces thereof. A transfer belt turns while stretched over rollers for the toner images to be transferred thereon by being superimposed one another as a surface thereof abuts on the peripheral surfaces of the photoconductive drums. A transfer roller transfers the toner images from the transfer belt onto a recording sheet. The transfer belt uses the position of the transfer roller as a turning position and turns to have a first side that moves in a first direction towards the turning position while abutting the peripheral surfaces of the photoconductive drums and a second side that moves opposite to the first direction using the turning position as a starting point. A cooling mechanism cools the transfer belt by circulating taken-in outside air along a surface of the second side.
