A display device is a display device that includes a display panel from which display light showing an image exits and a light source that emits basal light for producing the display light. The display device includes: a first diffusion sheet that diffuses the basal light that is to enter the display panel; a second diffusion sheet that is disposed spaced apart from the first diffusion sheet, and diffuses the basal light that is to enter the first diffusion sheet; and an optical member that includes a plurality of optical elements each of which refracts the basal light that is to enter the second diffusion sheet.

Display device and head-up display

A head-up display includes: a display that emits light showing an image from a display surface; and a mirror, wherein the image is seen as a virtual image by an observer through a windshield by the light emitted from the display surface of the display toward the mirror being reflected only by a reflecting surface of the mirror toward the windshield, and further being reflected by the windshield toward the observer, and the display surface of the display is directed downward from a direction toward the mirror from the display, and a center of the display surface of the display is located below a the center of gravity of the reflecting surface of the mirror.

Head-up display with offset reflecting member

A display system includes a display and a shielding member. The display has a display screen to display an image thereon. The shielding member has an opening, through which light emerging from the display screen passes. The shielding member defines a shape of the light emerging from the display screen. The display screen has a non-rectangular display area to display the image thereon. At least one peripheral edge of the opening defines a shape that conforms to an outer peripheral shape of the display area.

A head-up display includes: a display that displays an image; and a projection optical system that forms a virtual image. Head-up display

A head-up display that projects a virtual image onto a display medium includes: a display that emits display light that forms an image to be displayed; and a first mirror that forms a virtual image on a side opposite an observer across the display medium by guiding an image displayed by the display to the display medium. The first mirror includes: a base having a first surface and a second surface on opposite sides of the base; and a reflection surface provided on the first surface. The base includes an end portion including a rough surface and provided between the reflection surface on the first surface and a perimeter of the base. A rib is provided on a rear side of the end portion.

Head-up display includes: display element for displaying an image, and a projection optical system for projecting the image, which is displayed on display element, onto viewing region of viewer. The projection optical system includes combiner that is disposed at a position in an optical path from display element to viewing region of viewer. Combiner has a surface at which light incident from display element enters; the surface has a curved surface shape. Combiner has an effective region corresponding to viewing region of viewer. In the effective region, combiner has a horizontal cross-sectional shape that changes in thickness along from the center toward an end.

A head-up display includes: a display medium; a display that displays an image; and a projection optical system that forms a virtual image by guiding the image displayed by the display to the display medium. The projection optical system includes a first mirror disposed above the display and reflecting display light of the image. 3&#x3c;&#x3b1;&#x2212;(&#x3b8;+&#x3c6;)/2&#x3c;11.7 is satisfied, where &#x3b8; denotes an angle between a line segment connecting centers of the first mirror and the display and a normal line at the center of the first mirror, &#x3b1; denotes an angle between the line segment connecting the centers of the first mirror and the display and a normal line at the center of the display, and &#x3c6; denotes an inclination angle at an edge of the first mirror closer to the display relative to the center of the first mirror.

A head-up display includes: a display medium onto which a virtual image is projected; a display that displays an image; and a projection optical system that forms the virtual image on a side opposite an observer across the display medium. The projection optical system includes a mirror disposed above the display. 3&#x3c;&#x3b1;&#x2212;(&#x3b8;+&#x3c6;)/2&#x3c;11.7 is satisfied, where &#x3b8; denotes an angle between a line segment connecting centers of the mirror and the display and a normal line at the center of the mirror, &#x3b1; denotes an angle between the line segment connecting the centers of the mirror and the display and a normal line at the center of the display, and &#x3c6; denotes an inclination angle at an edge of the mirror closer to the display relative to the center of the mirror.

Provided is a head-up display which projects an image on a windshield and forms a virtual image visually recognizable by a viewer. The head-up display includes a display element which displays the image and a projection optical system which guides the image displayed by the display element to the windshield and forms the virtual image. The projection optical system includes at least two mirrors each having a reflective surface with a concave profile. The windshield has a curvature radius Rx in the right-left direction of the windshield which satisfies 0.05&#x3c;EBx/Rxmax&#x3c;0.50, where EBx denotes an eye box size in an X direction in which the virtual image is visually recognizable by the viewer, and Rxmax denotes a maximum value of Rx in an effective ray area of the windshield.

A virtual image display device includes: a projection member that projects an image; and a projection optical system that forms a virtual image. A virtual image distance from an observer to the virtual image is not less than 2,500 mm. The projection optical system has one or more reflectors. Virtual image display device

An ocular optical system comprising at least five lens elements, and including, in order from a display surface side to an exit side, a first lens unit having negative optical power, a second lens unit having positive optical power, and a third lens unit having positive optical power, wherein the second lens unit moves along an optical axis for adjustment of diopter scale, and a finder optical system comprising a display device having a display surface on which an image is displayed, and the above-mentioned ocular optical system.
