An input terminal device of one example includes a CPU, and the CPU transmits operation data to a game apparatus executing game processing in response to an operation by a user. Furthermore, when a TV remote control button provided to the input terminal device is operated, the CPU sets a TV control mode capable of operating a television, to thereby display a TV remote controller image on an LCD of the input terminal device. By using this image, the user inputs operation data of the television.

An information processing apparatus includes a display and a touch panel provided thereon. A CPU core causes the display to display an input screen (image) that has a keyboard image including a plurality of key patterns and an input area formed on each of the key patterns. By touching some of the key patterns, moving a stick or like to the input area while keeping it in a touch-on state and then performing a touch-off from the key pattern, a character graphic for the key pattern can be input (dragged) to a coordinate position in the input area just before the touch-off; however, by touching some of the key patterns and then performing a touch-off from the key pattern, a character graphic for the key pattern is input to a predetermined position in the input area.

System and/or method for displaying graphic to input information

A plurality of character input key images are displayed on the screen. One character is displayed on the screen as an undetermined character in a cyclic order from among a group of characters associated with one of the character input key images each time a button provided on the pointing device is operated while the character input key image is being pointed at by a pointing device. When the position pointed at by the pointing device moves out of the character input key image associated with the undetermined character being displayed on the screen, the undetermined character is displayed as a determined character on the screen. Thus, it is possible to suppress the lowering of the character input speed and the possibility of erroneous inputs while reducing the total number of keys required for inputting characters.

Character input program and character input device

A part of entry words included in entry word data is displayed in an entry word candidate display area. When the user taps a desired entry word in this state, a meaning of that entry word is displayed in an explanation sentence display area. When the user slides a stick in the entry word candidate display area, an animation of a page being turned is displayed, and the entry words displayed in the entry word candidate display areaare replaced with new entry words. This makes it simpler and faster to perform an instruction to switch entry words displayed on the screen and an instruction to select an entry word displayed on the screen and display a meaning thereof on the screen.
