A fixing device includes a transport member that transports a recording medium in a first direction, the recording medium having on one side thereof an image formed of an image forming material that is to be fixed by absorbing light; a first chip that has a first light-emitting area in which a plurality of light-emitting elements that emit light toward the one side of the recording medium are arranged two-dimensionally; and a second chip that has a second light-emitting area in which a plurality of light-emitting elements that emit light toward the one side of the recording medium are arranged two-dimensionally. A gap between the first light-emitting area and the second light-emitting area extends at an angle with respect to the first direction, and a portion of the first light-emitting area and a portion of the second light-emitting area overlap each other in the first direction.

A multi-service-class definition type ATM switch is basically configured by an ATM buffer device containing buffers, a data input/output device and a data processing device. The data input/output device inputs data with regard to a service class including a service category (e.g., VBR, CBR) and a QOS class, which the user needs. The data are transmitted to the data processing device, wherein the data are subjected to analysis. Herein, the data designate a buffer number and a request type, which represents one of three modes. At a data setting mode, the service class is set to the buffer designated by the buffer number within the buffers. Then, the data input/output device displays result of the setting. At a data read mode, the data are read from the buffer designated by the buffer number and are then output (or displayed) by the data input/output device. At a data renewal mode, new data are added to data storage, or unnecessary data are deleted from the data storage, so that the data input/output device displays result of renewal.

Multi-service-class definition type ATM switch

In an ATM switch, a correspondence between shapers which compose a shaper section and an output circuit(s) is not set up in an initial condition. At the time of a connection set-up, a connection control section interrogates a shaper/circuit control section about a corresponding relationship between the shaper(s) and the output circuit(s). In the case where a shaper(s) corresponding to an assigned circuit number is registered in a shaper/circuit-related table in the shaper/circuit control section, the shaper(s) is chosen. On the other hand, in the case where a shaper(s) is not registered in the table, after a new shaper(s) is registered in the table, a correspondence between the assigned circuit number and the shaper(s) is set up to the shaper section and a circuit interface section, and the corresponding shaper(s) is chosen.

A cell buffer use rate monitoring method allowing a memory required for detecting the currently used amount of a cell buffer to be reduced. A monitoring time and a plurality of cell buffer thresholds are previously set in a setting data memory. A cell buffer use rate is calculated based on the number of cells received within the monitoring time and the number of times a currently used cell buffer amount has exceeded each of the cell buffer thresholds.
