Pressure booster () for boosting the pressure of petroleum fluids, produced water or seawater, comprising a pressure booster () with a motor (), a rotatable motor shaft () and a rotatable pump or compressor shaft () where the pressure booster in the form of a centrifugal pump () or compressor is arranged. The pressure booster further comprises: a hydraulic variable speed drive () arranged between the motor and the pressure booster, the hydraulic variable speed drive comprising an impeller () and a turbine (), wherein the impeller of the hydraulic variable speed drive is arranged on the motor shaft and the turbine of the hydraulic variable speed drive is arranged on the pump or compressor shaft, a common driver side fluid () for cooling, lubricating, flushing and powering of the hydraulic variable speed drive, and cooling, lubricating and flushing of the motor and bearings, circulated by one of an impeller () on the motor shaft, a pump and a hydraulic power unit, a control system () for controlling the coupling of the motor shaft to the pump or compressor shaft by the hydraulic variable speed drive, wherein the motor shaft drives the pump or compressor shaft via the hydraulic variable speed drive.

A subsea pump system includes a subsea centrifugal pump with a motor compartment and a process compartment. The subsea pump system further includes a liquid phase separator arranged downstream to the pump or downstream to at least one pump impeller. The liquid phase separator includes an inlet receiving the pressure boosted fluid, an outlet delivering a majority, or a minor part, of the pressure boosted fluid, and a liquid phase outlet, a liquid recirculation line, a flow mixer arranged on the inlet side of the pump, and a liquid lubricant line.

A magnetic coupling assembly includes a rotatable male coupling member, a rotatable female coupling member, a static separation member, a first channel, a second channel, a third channel, and a magnetic coupling section of the static separation member, wherein the magnetic coupling section is a section of the static separation member. The rotatable female coupling member and the rotatable male coupling member are rotatably coupled by magnets through the magnetic coupling section. The first channel, the second channel, and the third channel contain fluid forced to flow through the first, second, and third channels for cooling and rotodynamic stabilization.

A unique low cost and efficient submersible, hermetically sealed, variable speed system intended to drive submersible boosting units. The system includes a unique combination of a liquid filled electrical motor connected to a hydraulic coupling and a magnetic coupling driver section, in a hermetically sealed container, with a magnetic coupling follower driving a booster unit. The system further includes integrated cooling, lubrication and control functionality. The drive unit has an actuating system connected to internal guide vanes which controls the liquid flow between the pump impeller and turbine wheel of the hydrodynamic coupling and hence the torque and speed. The combined system is a sealed seal-less and topside-less submersible drive unit that can operate in harsh subsea environments. The drive unit opens up for use of thin walled pressure casings and low pressure electrical penetrators.
