An internal combustion engine, system includes an internal combustion engine for combustion of gaseous fuel and having a combustion chamber at least partially delimited by a cylinder; a reciprocating piston moveable within said cylinder between a bottom dead centre (BDC) and a top dead centre (TDC), The reciprocating piston has a piston top end comprising a piston bowl intended to form part of the combustion chamber. A controllable fuel injector is arranged to inject gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber and towards the piston bowl. A controller controls the fuel injector to inject at least one gaseous fuel jet toward a bottom surface of the piston bowl during a fuel injection period occurring prior to an ignition event of the gaseous fuel.

Internal combustion engine system

A fuel injection arrangement admits a flow of hydrogen into a combustion chamber of hydrogen internal combustion engine. The fuel injection arrangement has a nozzle cap and an inlet valve arrangement. An inner surface of the nozzle cap comprises a nozzle protrusion protruding radially towards an envelope surface of a flow guiding portion of the inlet valve arrangement. The nozzle protrusion is arranged axially between a valve protrusion of the inlet valve arrangement and an outlet of the nozzle cap. The valve protrusion and the nozzle protrusion at least partly overlap in a radial direction.

Fuel injection arrangement and a hydrogen internal combustion engine

A piston for an internal combustion engine operable on a gaseous fuel is provided. The piston has a piston top end comprising a piston bowl for receiving at least one gaseous fuel jet from a fuel injector of the ICE, said piston bowl having a bottom section and a circumferential side section extending in an axial direction between the bottom section and a piston top end surface, wherein said bottom section comprises a protrusion segment configured to guide said at least one gaseous fuel jet. The protrusion segment further extends between spaced apart regions of the circumferential side section.

Piston and an internal combustion engine system

The present disclosure relates to a cylinder head configured to mount to a combustion cylinder of an internal combustion engine, ICE, the cylinder head including a cylinder head surface configured to face an internal combustion chamber of the combustion cylinder, a cavity including an inner cavity surface and a cavity side wall, the cavity extending from the cylinder head surface, along the cavity side wall, to the inner cavity surface in a direction away from the cylinder head surface, and an opening arranged in the inner cavity surface, the opening being configured to be provided with a fuel injector for feeding gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber, wherein the cavity side wall includes a surface discontinuity portion, the surface discontinuity portion being arranged at a distance from the inner cavity surface.

Cylinder head

An internal combustion engine for gaseous fuel includes a cylinder and a piston for reciprocal movement in the cylinder along a reciprocal axis, whereby a combustion chamber is at least partially delimited by the cylinder and the piston. The piston includes a piston crown facing the combustion chamber, a piston crown projection of the piston crown in a direction parallel to the reciprocal axis and onto a piston crown plane extending transversally to the reciprocal axis having a piston crown center point, the piston crown comprising a piston bowl surface defining a piston bowl and a piston rim portion enclosing the piston bowl surface. A piston bowl opening is the intersection between the piston rim portion and the piston bowl surface. The piston bowl opening has an opening center of gravity in the piston crown plane. The opening center of gravity is offset from the piston crown center point.

Internal combustion engine for gaseous fuel

A nozzle cap for a fuel injection nozzle operable in a hydrogen internal combustion engine includes an inlet for receiving a flow of hydrogen controllable by an inlet valve arrangeable in the inlet, at least one outlet for providing an exit flow of hydrogen, and an internal bottom flow-guiding body arranged at a bottom side of the nozzle cap downstream of the inlet in a nozzle cap volume, the internal bottom flow-guiding body protruding towards the inlet and comprises a flow-guiding surface for re-directing a flow of hydrogen from the inlet towards the outlet.

Nozzle cap for a fuel injection nozzle operable in a hydrogen internal combustion engine
