An injection system, including an injector having a dispensing mechanism configured to dispense a medicament, and a ready-to-use indicator. The ready-to-use indicator includes a controller configured to interact with the ready-to-use indicator and an audio and/or visual indicator, a temperature sensor, and a temperature analog having similar thermodynamic properties of the medicament. The temperature sensor is configured to detect a temperature of the temperature analog which represents the dynamic temperature of medicament as the medicament is heated or cooled. The temperature sensor is configured to communicate the detected temperature to the controller and to alert the controller when a preset temperature is reached. The ready-to-use indicator is configured to alert a user when the preset temperature is reached, signifying the medicament is thermally ready to be delivered by the dispensing mechanism. The audio and/or visual indicator is configured to display indicate one or more notifications to the user.

An injection assembly includes a housing with a barrel positioned within the housing. The barrel includes an axis extending from a proximal end to a distal end thereof and a chamber for storing medicine. An elongate anti-rotation shaft is rotationally fixed to the housing and has a non-circular cross-section. The injection assembly includes an inner screw having an inner screw opening to complementarily receive the anti-rotation shaft to prevent rotation of the inner screw with respect to the anti-rotation shaft but allow respective linear translation along the axis. An outer screw is positioned within, and rotatable with respect to, the housing and has an outer screw opening to threadably receive the inner screw, wherein rotation of the outer screw translates the inner screw along the axis and along the anti-rotation shaft. A plunger is coupled to the distal end of the inner screw and is moveable with respect to the chamber to push the medicine out of the chamber when the outer screw is rotated.

An autoinjector that automatically retracts a needle contained therein includes an injection assembly, having a plunger and a movable piston coupled to the plunger, a retraction assembly coupled to the injection assembly, and an end-of-dose visual indicator disposed within the retraction assembly. The retraction assembly includes an opaque section, a transparent or translucent section coupled to the opaque section, and a drug container having a hypodermic needle. The end-of-dose visual indicator is disposed within the retraction assembly such that the indicator moves upwardly from the opaque section of the retraction assembly to the transparent or translucent section of the retraction assembly upon full administration of a drug solution or medicine contained within the drug container. The end-of-dose visual indicator may be configured according to many preferred embodiments, among which may include a hollow cylinder, a split indicator ring, a co-extruded ring, and a multi-faceted polygonal cylinder.

A one-piece molded plastic clamp provided with a guiding lug for engaging a channel to prevent twisting of the arms of the clamp as they are compressed, while simultaneously enabling the clamp to be molded in a simple, clam-shell mold. The clamp includes a pair of parallel toothed members extending inwardly from one arm of the clamp and intended to engage a locking hook extending inwardly from the other of the arms. The teeth on the parallel toothed members are alternatingly spaced so that while the teeth are uniformly spaced within the plane of the clamp, they are staggered within a transverse plane so they unobstructedly face away from the plane of the clamp.
