This Application addresses maintaining a hydrostatic pressure exerted on a wall of a wellbore in different intervals of the wellbore. This is done by flowing a liquid through at least a pressure regulator in each interval, and wherein each pressure regulators regulates the amount of pressure exerted by the liquid on the wall of the wellbore. The amount of pressure may be maintained for a specific period of time. The wellbore is part of a soft subterranean formation.

Methods of maintaining sufficient hydrostatic pressure in multiple intervals of a wellbore in a soft formation

Disclosed are systems and methods of producing from multiple production zones with a single trip multi-zone completion system. One method includes arranging an outer completion string within an open hole section of a wellbore, the outer completion string having at least one sand screen disposed thereabout, extending a production tubing within the outer completion string, the production tubing having at least one interval control valve disposed thereon, communicably coupling the production tubing to the completion string at a crossover coupling having one or more control lines coupled thereto, actuating the at least one interval control valve to initiate production into the production tubing at the at least one interval control valve, and measuring one or more fluid and/or well environmental parameters external to the outer completion string with a surveillance line communicably coupled to one or more control lines at the crossover coupling.

Single trip multi-zone completion systems and methods

Disclosed are systems and methods of producing from multiple production zones with a single trip multi-zone completion system. One single trip multi-zone completion system includes an outer completion string having at least one sand screen arranged thereabout and being deployable in an open hole section of a wellbore that penetrates at least one formation zone, a production tubing arranged within the outer completion string and having at least one interval control valve disposed thereon, a control line extending external to the production tubing and being communicably coupled to the at least one interval control valve, and a surveillance line extending external to the outer completion string and interposing the at least one formation zone and the at least one sand screen.

A system for completing a wellbore () having multiple zones. The system includes a completion () having a plurality of landing points defined therein positioned within the wellbore (). A service tool is axially movable within the completion (). The service tool is coupled to a pipe string () extending from the surface and selectively supported by a movable block () above the surface. A subsurface model is defined in a computer operably associated with the wellbore (). The model is operable to predict the position of the service tool relative to the landing points of the completion () based upon a dynamic lumped mass model of the service tool and a dynamic lumped capacitance thermal model of the wellbore environment.

System and method for completion optimization

Fluid flow control assemblies capable of being disposed in a wellbore for hydrocarbon fluid production are described. The fluid flow control assemblies can include valves that are actuated via controls from a component positioned at or near the surface to control direction of fluid flow downhole. Packers can be set, slurry can be circulated to screens, and hydrocarbons can be produced via a single trip through the wellbore.

In response to contact with an activating fluid, radial expansion of the swellable material layer () causes at least a portion of the fluid collection subassembly () and the sensor () to be displaced toward a surface of the wellbore ().

Sand control screen assembly and method for use of same

A sand control screen assembly () is operably positionable within a wellbore (). The sand control screen assembly () includes a base pipe () having at least one opening and an internal flow path (). A swellable material layer () is disposed exteriorly of the base pipe (). A fluid collection subassembly () is disposed exteriorly of the swellable material layer (). A drainage layer () is disposed exteriorly of the fluid collection subassembly () and the swellable material layer (). In response to contact with an activating fluid, radial expansion of the swellable material layer () causes at least a portion of the fluid collection subassembly () and the drainage layer () to be displaced toward a surface of the wellbore ().

A sand control screen assembly () is operably positionable within a wellbore (). The sand control screen assembly () includes a base pipe () having a plurality of openings () in a sidewall portion thereof and an internal flow path (). A plurality of radially extendable filter members () are each operably associated with at least one of the openings () of the base pipe (). The radially extendable filter members () have a circumferential dimension that is less than a longitudinal dimension thereof. The radially extendable filter members () have a radially retracted running configuration and a radially extended operating configuration, in which, the radially extendable filter members () preferably contact the wellbore ().

Systems and methods for securing lines to well sand control screens. A method of securing at least one line to a tubular string includes connecting together longitudinal ends of longitudinal sections of the tubular string; then wrapping a shroud circumferentially about the connected tubular string sections; and securing the line to the shroud. A well screen assembly includes a generally tubular filter portion, a shroud wrapped circumferentially about the filter portion, and a retainer which connects opposite circumferential ends of the shroud to each other without being welded to at least one of the shroud ends, with the retainer being positioned on an interior of the shroud. Another well screen assembly includes multiple longitudinal sections of a tubular string, at least one of the longitudinal sections comprising a well screen, and a shroud wrapped circumferentially about the tubular string sections and rotationally secured to the tubular string.

Securement of lines to well sand control screens

The sand control screen assembly () includes a base pipe () having at least one opening () and an internal flow path (). A swellable material layer () is disposed exteriorly of the base pipe (). A downhole fiber optic wet connect and gravel pack completion. In a described embodiment, a system for making fiber optic connections in a subterranean well includes a first fiber optic connector positioned in the well and a second fiber optic connector operatively connected to the first fiber optic connector after the first fiber optic connector is positioned in the well. A method of monitoring a subterranean well includes the steps of: positioning a fiber optic line in the well, the fiber optic line extending in a formation intersected by the well; positioning another fiber optic line in the well, the fiber optic line extending to a remote location; operatively connecting the fiber optic lines while the fiber optic lines are in the well; and monitoring a well parameter using a sensor operatively coupled to the fiber optic line extending in the formation.

In a described embodiment, a system for completing a subterranean well includes multiple assemblies installed in a wellbore. Each assembly has a fiber optic line. An apparatus and method for completing an interval of a wellbore while drilling comprises a drill string () having a drill bit () mounted on the lower end thereof. A completion assembly () is positioned around a section of the drill string () such that when the wellbore () is extended by rotating the drill bit () and advancing the drill string (), the completion assembly () does not rotate. The advancement of the drill string () and rotation of the drill bit () is ceased when the completion assembly () has reached the desired interval of the wellbore (). Thereafter, the drill string () is disconnected from the drill bit () for retrieval to the surface leaving the completion assembly () and the drill bit () downhole.
