A soft open preventer system including: a preventer tubular, a soft open preventer, a channel system, and a downhole tool. The soft open preventer includes a preventer support and a preventer release element. The channel system includes a channel, a channel release, and pressure applier. The downhole tool includes a tool release element. The soft open preventer, the downhole tool, and the channel system is arranged at least partially in the preventer tubular. The soft open preventer is arranged such that the downhole tool will not activate before the soft open preventer activates. The pressure applier is arranged to activate the channel release, the channel release is arranged to allow pressure to increase in the channel, and the channel is in fluid contact with at least a portion of the preventer support. The preventer release element supports the preventer support and is arranged such that when a threshold absolute pressure or pressure differential is applied to the preventer release element, the preventer release element breaks activating the soft open preventer. This allows the preventer support to move. The preventer system is arranged such that activation of the soft open preventer will allow the activation of the downhole tool.

Plug breaker

An asymmetric bearing ring to support a plug is disclosed. The bearing ring is an annular ring with an inner surface and an outer surface, wherein the inner surface and the outer surface are not parallel. The bearing ring can be part of a plug tubular system including a tubular body and a plug assembly, where the tubular body include a housing, and the plug assembly arranged in the housing include a plug, the asymmetric bearing ring, and a seat which supports the plug; and wherein the asymmetric bearing ring is arranged between the plug and the seat and/or the asymmetric bearing ring is arranged between the plug and the housing.

A plug assembly including a breaker object and a plug, having a first position in which the breaker object is not in contact with the plug and a second position where the breaker object is in contact with the plug, wherein the movement from the first position to the second position initiated by pressure applied to the plug, wherein: the breaker object includes an impact surface where the impact surface is the projection of the plug surface onto the breaker object, and the impact surface includes an impact point wherein: the impact point is the portion of the plug which makes contact with the breaker object when the plug assembly is in the second position; and the impact surface has the cross sectional shape of a portion of a conic section.

Breaking object for a frangible plug

Two examples of a glass assembly were claimed where the glass assembly includes a plug with a middle edge surface, wherein the middle edge surface contains the widest portion of the plug. In the first example middle edge surface is curved, and in the other example the middle edge surface is in contact with a stabilizer. A plug assembly was also claimed, including a glass assembly in a housing, a seat arranged to support the plug, a breaker object configured to break the plug, wherein the middle edge surface contains the widest portion of the plug; and wherein a stabilizer is arranged in contact with the middle edge surface.

A plug system including: a plug tubular including a tubular body, an upstream tubular connection, and a downstream tubular connection; wherein: the upstream tubular connection and the downstream tubular connection are openings at opposite ends of the tubular body; and a plug assembly arranged in a housing including: a plug; a breaker object; and a seat; wherein: the plug is supported by the seat; the plug assembly has a first position and a second position; wherein in the first position, the plug intact; and in the second position the plug has been broken by the breaker object; wherein: the plug is stationary with respect to the housing in both the first and second position; there is a fluid connection between the upstream tubular connection and the downstream tubular connection: and the tubular body is a single continuous piece; and wherein the plug assembly is entirely arranged within the plug tubular.

Plug assembly

A plug assembly arranged in a housing including: a plug, a breaker object, a seat, a shear ring and an assembly retainer. The plug is supported by the seat and the shear ring prevents the seat from moving in an axial direction. The shear ring is arranged such that when a threshold pressure differential is applied to a surface of the plug, the shear ring shears and allows for axial movement of the seat. The assembly retainer provides axial support to the breaker object, seat, or shear ring. A plug assembly arranged in a plug tubular. The plug tubular made of a single continuous piece.

The plug is supported by the seat and the shear ring prevents the seat from moving in an axial direction. The shear ring is arranged such that when a threshold pressure differential is applied to a surface of the plug, the shear ring hears and allows for axial movement of the seat. The plug assembly has a first position, a second position, and a third position. In the first position, the plug is not in contact with the breaker object, in the second position, the shear ring has sheared and the plug is in contact with the breaker object causing the plug to break, and in the third position, occurring during or after the plug makes contact with the breaker object, the snap ring is arranged to lock the seat into place to prevent the seat from moving axially.
