A rear illuminated light guide for an LCD screen with in-coupling gratings to receive backlight from an input surface and to spread received backlight laterally within the light guide. Out-coupling gratings receive laterally spread backlight and output at least some of the received laterally spread backlight through an output surface that is opposite to the input surface and towards the LCD screen. The input and output gratings have lateral offset.

Diffusing of direct backlight for a display panel

A method and an apparatus comprising operating a processor of an apparatus as a first processor and/or as a second processor. The method at a first processor comprises recognizing the proximity of a second apparatus; recognizing a first user input and in response to the user input, sending an application share invitation to the second apparatus. The method at a second processor comprises recognizing the proximity of a first apparatus and in response to receiving an application share invitation from the first apparatus, displaying a security prompt for the user on the display.

Application sharing between devices in proximity to each other

A touch display has a touch screen to display images and one or more infrared cameras to take images of objects contacting the touch screen. One or more calibration patterns are formed on the touch screen. In response, an automatic process takes place, with: producing an image of the touch screen by taking with each one of the group of infrared cameras a set of one or more images of the calibration patterns; determining geometric distortions of the images with relation to the formed one or more calibration patterns; and calculating calibration parameters configured to enable computational compensation of the determined geometric distortions. The calibration parameters are then stored.

Correction of touch screen camera geometry

A method, apparatus and computer program for forming graphics in a drawing area based on user instructions. In response to addition or changing of a first graphical object, an interaction zone is formed around the first graphical object for a given continuation period. It is detected if a second graphical object is drawn starting from the interaction zone during the continuation period and if yes, the first graphical object is changed by merging the second graphical object with the first graphical object.

User interface for drawing with electronic devices

An interactive display device () has an image layer () for presenting user perceivable visual content and a touching surface () covering the image layer () or formed by the image layer (). Further, there are a plurality of invisible light sources () for illuminating alternatingly different sub-regions of the touching surface () and a plurality of touch detection units () for capturing images of illuminated sub-regions from behind the image layer (). From the captured images contact areas are detected where a pointing object () contacts the touching surface () and thus causes correspondingly one or more marks in the captured images. The remaining ones of the invisible light sources () are controlled to be operable while adjacent touch detection units and associated invisible light sources are controlled to be non-operable so as to reduce undesired reflections of invisible light from non-contacting objects in the vicinity of the touching surface.

Optical touch display

An interactive display device () presents to a user () a visible image on an image layer () through a touching surface (). The display device () has an illumination unit () that transmits infrared light and captures through the touching surface sets of infrared images of objects that are in the proximity of the touching surface. The display device () detects from the infrared images contact areas where a pointing object () is located with respect to the image layer () and casts in the infrared image a corresponding shadow. The illumination unit () alternates the infrared illumination so that each infrared image set has images taken with differing infrared illumination. Resulting variance in the shadows is used by the interactive display device () to detect whether the pointing object () contacts the touching surface () or not.
